And here we also see why Mack decided to use 2018 as his comparison year. 2018 had the worst Flu season in the USA in 40 years. That's the spike you see for 2018. The deaths were therefore above average that year and thus comparing with 2018 alone makes the excess deaths in 2020 seem fewer than they really are. That is dishonest use of data, and simply wrong statistics.
