Is that the headline deaths figure or the expected deaths figure? Demographic effects upon population numbers is not a simple calculation. For expected mortality rates a whole raft of factors can affect it, not just the population total. Yes, a higher population will have an effect on the base number. But the age distribution will also have an affect. A chronically poor health provision will have an affect. For example, infant mortality rates change vastly even with relatively small influences. Access to clean water, for example. So it is a movable number. The post-war 'baby bulge' is still affecting matters. Increasing obesity rates affect it. Widespread essation of smoking affects it. Widespread opiod use affects it.

Back to today : there are 300k more deaths than expected. You say it aint covid related. Well, what is it then. You are researching? Nope, you are searching for any reason that aint covid. Because if you were researching you would keep bumping up against the fact that public health officials and scientists across the world agree that covid is infectious and sufficiently deadly to be considered a serious threat to human life.

Mack the flu changes every year and they have to change the vaccine every year. Covid is a relatively new disease compared to the flu and it has a higher death rate.

The numbers being "blown up" would be canceled out by the fact that we don't even confirm half of all cases and only maybe 75% of deaths from COVID.

Mack, I have to agree with Blue a bit. I think the numbers are far higher than we have data on, which is limited those tested. Which is a great thing, it means the death rate is far lower than we are showing.

Also, once the government offered a bounty (cash) for positives, your "covid related" deaths are going to increase. I know a few people who were diagnoses as covid without a test. Only to find out later they didnt have it, hell my neighbor was put in the covid ICU unit because her doctor told her that the severe pains in her belly were a rare covid effect. They finally tested her and found she was negative pulled her out of covid unit and found she had appendicitis.

So more cases are coming, more hospital care will be needed, but so long as the death rate stays low, there is no need for panic.
