I will say this. Covid is typically not deadly enough from what I have heard to kill most folks by itself. Typically the ones who died from it also had other health problems, that when mixed with Covid killed them. At that point, I feel you can't just say that Covid alone killed them. I knew a girl who died recently from Covid-though she also had numerous other health problems. Diabetes, poor diet, obesity, to be frank, I honestly expected her to die within the decade even before Covid popped up. The disease was just the final nail in the coffin.

I feel that is a problem with many reports of Covid deaths. I don't think they list other health problems that helped cause said death. I am curious how many folks died from just Covid-with no other diseases or health problems. I expect that number to be incredibly low.

I certainly will not argue that point Mel but again I point to Bashir's statement that regardless if it was covid alone or any number of covid assisted deaths, the bottom line is they are dead. Probably be still alive if not been infected by the disease.

Back we go to expected mortality rate : that average includes all those obese, diabetic,,chain-smoking folk. They die at a constant rate already. What we are seeing now is 300,000 more deaths than would be expected.
So, if it aint covid causing those 300,000 EXTRA deaths... then what is?

As an aside : covid is somewhat treatable IF you have the hospital capacity and staff and correct equipment. That alone will reduce the death rate... until you exceed that capacity. Then the death rate will increase exponentially. I will wager that when a hospital reaches capacity the first step taken is to triage incoming patients. You save the ones most likely to respond not tie up beds with long-term cases. That sounds harsh but that is what triage is. Same applies in field hospitals, fix the ones you can fix most of, not leave ten of them to die while you spend ten hours saving one with multiple injuries.

I'll also wager that has happened already. Simple choice really : give the last bed to a relatively healthy individual likely to recover or to the obese, chain-smoking pensioner with a heart condition and bad lungs? Go look at interviews with Intensive Care staff.. they tell it as it is.

In the UK they said even with masks, distancing, etc.. 50,000 deaths would be a fair outcome.. they now at 70,000. Why did they bother, eh?

To also be fair, some folks did very stupid things in regards to the virus. I do think Trump could have handled things better, but when you got folks like the NY governor who literally sent covid positive elderly folks back to their homes, that certainly does not help things.

I think some folks wanted the virus to do more damage to make Trump look bad. That however is just my opinion, I may very well be wrong, and that some folks were just being plain stupid rather then malevolent. Either way, both are rather bad.
