The federal government here can only reccomend what states do.

In my state they closed eveything except grocerie store, pharmacies, home repair supply stores and hospitals, and masks are required everywhere. Everything has social distsnce spacing and anyone that goes to work somewhere get their temperature taken before the can enter the building.

Eventually some things were opened back up and there was not a lot of change in case numbers.

Where i live every positive test counts as a case.
So if you have the rapid test and the full test and you are positive that is 2 positive cases. If you then get tested every day till you recover or die. Everyone of those tests counts as a case. Seems a bit funny to me. Maybe when Biden takes over they can just call it one case per person and things will look better here.

Also except for some jackasses that kept trying to go to the beach
Most of the people that refused to stop mass gathering were the "peaceful protestors" that were burning and looting shops in the urban areas and ripping down statues.

your setting new records for cases every day and you have more infections than India. We got our cases under control very quickly and all I was saying is Biden and also other countries are looking at Australia to see what measures are most effective until the vaccine. Your an Idiot that cant read graphs and accept that contact tracing more than tens of thousands of cases per day and all their immediate contacts, extended contacts is very hard, time consuming and labor intensive and that it's out of control
also last time I checked you had more deaths than any other country including India which had a larger population and arguably inferior healthcare

yes but some states do not have that and thus cases are rising very quickly. I get that we got less of a population but places like India are doing better than you guys.In some states the news say you are almost at capacity in terms of ICU's and stuff. Now you guys haven't reached the point of no return or anything but you still have a worrying amount of coronavirus cases and it hasn't flattened out much like other countries

Not many deaths? From late January through October 3rd, USA has had around 300.000 more deaths than usual (excess mortality, ref. https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/69/wr/mm6942e2.htm). This is if you don't look at the causes of death, just the number of dead. 300.000 extra dead people.

In my opinion, that is a lot of people. But the number would probably have been way higher if no restrictions were imposed.

In the US it's around 169,000 attributed to covid. As Haron states, there are some 300,000 excess deaths. That means that compared to the average of the last five years there have been 300,000 deaths more than could be expected. All covid? Maybe not. There will be deaths simply because other treatments get pushed back or delayed because the ICU's are full, elective surgery does not happen due to bed shortages and so on.

300,000. And you think if they are not famous they don't count? It's ten 9/11's. That is the scale of it. Just wise up and maybe question the sources that are telling you it's nada, a hoax, fake news, 5G radiation, whatever. Denial is no protection.
