Climate change and seasons are not the same thing. I'm sure you'd know this because you have a PhD in climate science.

CO2 is important in regular quantities, yes. CO2 when it comes from animals exhaling. Not when it comes from a combined 3 billion motorized vehicles burping out gases. Kinda like what Mel was saying. Just because something is good does not mean that it will still be good in extremely high/low quantities.

Having a PHD doesn't mean much. You can get a PHD in lesbian dance theory or women's studies. Appealing to an authority that you yourself are not, does not make your opinion anymore valid nor does it make opposing opinions any less.

Seasonal changes are changes in climate.

Climate is defined as "the weather conditions prevailing in an area in general or over a long period."
In the Mid-Atlantic Region of the USA, during June, July, and August, the weather is hot and humid. That's the climate for the Summer Season
In the same region, during December, January, and February, the weather is cold and with ice and snow. That's climate for the winter Season.

A change in the climate (a change in seasons), is climate change. You can go back to your safe space and cry.

The limits of CO2 are only in relation to oxygen breathing organisms. Plant's don't breath oxygen.

Plants thrive on CO2. Plants use photosynthesis to produce oxygen using water, CO2, and sunlight. You can pump CO2 in high concentrations into a sealed greenhouse to the point a person would collapse and die due to a lack of oxygen and the plants will thrive as long as there was sufficient water and sunlight.

And what do you think happens when we cut down all the plants?

We plant more? Grass, weeds, cacti, etc. all produce Oxygen. Are they all of a sudden going to disappear? Doubtful.

A lot of the issues that you bring up are outside of the USA's control, like deforestation. You should tell those other better countries to stop deforesting so much.

A study in 2017 showed that the between 1920 and 2017 the US has only had a reduction in about 3% of its forestry. The USA maintains is forest rather well, especially considering that wildfires have played a major part in that reduction. But yeah, deforestation. It's a real problem in the USA. Or not.

There is also the fact that 50-80% of oxygen production comes from the oceans, but let's not let that get in the way.

And don't you think that that 50-80% will become marred by an ocean virtually made of plastic?

Where are we going to plant trees? On the sidewalk? That's not enough to provide suitable air filtering.

As PD mentioned a long time ago, this is a highly complex global issue that scientists are working day and night to figure out solutions to. If there was a solution as simple as what you are saying they would have figured it out a long time ago.

The oceans cover an area of 139.7 million sq-miles. The largest ocean trash pile is roughly 600 thousand sq-miles. So even if we estimated that the total garbage in the oceans covers an area of 1 million square miles. That leaves 138.7 million square miles of ocean. That's a whopping 0.7% of the ocean surface. Definitely virtually made of plastic. Please be more stupid.

In the ground. That's usually where you plant them. Do you think the world is covered in concrete? For someone who supposedly hunts, you are extremely obtuse.

PD?

A highly complex global issue? Sounds pretty vague.

I never offered any solution.

Oh that's right because only problems need solutions and climate change isn't a problem because I said so. Obviously all the trash in the ocean clumps together, not floats wherever the wind blows and ends up covering the entire world. I'm sure nothing like that is true.

Dez your insane capabilities to disprove scientists on their own subject without studying it is mind blowing. You should be the next president.

Can you prove without a doubt that climate change is a problem. Other than the fact that climate scientists had to change their models when the data showed they were wrong. But lets keep trusting what they say, because they have a proven track record.

Meteorologists have trouble providing an accurate forecast, but we should totally believe climate science.

Again, the largest trash pile in the ocean is in the Pacific and is 600,000 square miles. The one in the Atlantic ocean is only a couple hundred square miles. How much of the worlds oceans do you think would be covered in trash if we took all of the trash in the oceans and made one big floating pile? 10-20M square miles. I doubt that. I doubt it's over 1M square miles.

What is amazing is that with all the science and numbers out there, there is no actual estimate on the size it would cover. All you get is 5.25Trillion pieces of plastic trash and 4 billion plastic microfibers per square kilometer of deep ocean. Large numbers sound super horrible until you get down to what is actually being said.

The 2 liter soda bottle is roughly 13in tall and 4in wide. That gives you an area of 52 square inches. Assuming that all 5.25 Trillion pieces of plastic trash in the oceans are 2 liter soda bottles, which they aren't some may be larger, most are probably smaller. That gives you an area of 273 Trillion square inches or 68,004 square miles.

So all of the plastic bottles in the ocean is about 1/10 the size of the Pacific Garbage Patch.

Oh and the 4 billion plastic microfibers per square kilometer.

Microfiber (or microfibre) is synthetic fiber finer than one denier or decitex/thread, having a diameter of less than ten micrometres.

Assuming a 3cm length. That's 30000micrometers by 10 micrometers which gives you an area of 300000 square micrometers. Multiplied by 4 billion. 1200000000000000 square micrometers or 1200 square meters or 0.0012 square kilometers. Remember that's per square kilometer of deep ocean.
And note that for this they don't use per cubic meters (volume for you science illiterates) because the numbers would look way worse.

Science!!

Of course the model changes as new or better defined data is added. That is how science works. A theory is tested, refined and proved or disproved. None of them ever sprang fully-formed out of the box. A scientific theory is, logically, never fully proved because the possibility of new data disproving it can not be discounted. Thus the Einstiens Theory of Relativity we know today is not the first one he came up with. Its the Modified Theory of Relativity.

But with all the new data and models on climate change, none say it is not happening. It changes the timespan, the severity, but not the actuality of it.
Science changes or modifies its theories according to the facts discovered by testing them. It never denies the facts for then it becomes politics and not science. Politics changes or denies the facts to prove or disprove its theories. I think we can see which method you prefer.
