Let's say someone decides that nothing is better then something, builds a giant bomb that will wipe out all matter in the universe so that nothing remains. I think most would argue- that is certainly not good. So even nothing, when taken to extremes is bad. Though I don't think his answer was meant to be taken seriously.
On the subject of life in America vs other countries, I would argue that America has more freedom then most other countries. Many other western nations have limits on the freedom to own guns, some don't have protected freedom of speech like America etc. Now you could argue that some of those freedoms are not good, hell you could use my own philosophy that too much freedom is a bad thing, which I would agree with. You should not have the freedom to sleep with anyone you want, so long as you can trick, overpower or drug them for example.
As for the point of americans being too lazy to learn a new langauge, I find that rather insulting. I took a couple years in highschool to learn Spanish. Thought it was fun, and hoped it would be useful. It was not. I had no one to speak with in Spanish, and over a decade of never using what I learned I have forgotten most of it. Now, I am of the opinion that unless I plan to travel to another country, I won't bother learning a new language if I have no oneto speak with in it. Because I know that I'll just slowly forget it. Which makes it a waste of time.
maybe you guys should have a different language in the curriculum like Mandarin because it has more speakers than English ones mostly because of lots of chinese people I guess. Or French or something
Over 20% of the world speaks English, compared to about 15% that speak Mandarin.
