I agree with you 100%, the stired pot, the domination... Heck it made me defleet, and it may just be the nudge people need to become more active and band together, or walk away

:P :P :P

I had to make one edit, you should care about whats good for the game and the players, we all should. The only thing this game has is the players, once they are gone so is the game. Once this game is not longer fun to people, they will leave, so we should all care. That's my point and why i always bring up what is good for all.

I have power in real life, im just here for the fun, and without others, this game dies, which im pretty sure is the reason CJ has been trying so hard to make this game more "sim". Just a thought.

I think your thinking is flawed Danik... We are all kings! We all have a seat at the head of the table. We all lead and follow equally. We share the same ideology. Because of this we succeed. This was the premise of creating VUDU all those many moons ago.

We are all Kings sir

I suggest you read up on Eris and the Golden Apple.

Interesting but Paris was forced to make a choice of the three by Zeus for no one can refuse the gods.

No one here has been forced or will be forced to make a choice.

Of course, if CJ(Zeus) were to force a choice, well then maybe this analogy would be in order.

I think the Melian dialogues would be more analogous in this particular situation.

....... or we could just play the game and let the history write itself.

Histories dont write themselves. They are the stories we tell ourselves to explain how and why we got where we are. No two histories ever agree and we tend to beleive the ones which match our own prejudices, experiences and status. It's not that hard to find countless examples of folk hankering for some Golden Age and others fearing its return as for them, it was not Golden at all.

I disagree. History does write itself. It is our interpretations of the events, their origins, outcomes and implications that subject to our personal biases. This is especially true in events of conflict.

The clue is in the word we use. 'story'. I'm a bit of a military historian. I've read maybe 20-30 histories of the Battle of Waterloo. A single event on one day in a space of a few square miles. None agree. None can even be certain when the battle actually began. Accounts written the day after dont agree. For decades after some French accounts actually claimed a French victory. The Prussians won it. The Dutch won it. And all tailor events to suit their narrative.

So whatever actually happened, we dont really know. Whatever history 'wrote itself' doesnt exist to be read. Only the histories, all of them with all their contradictions, that we write and we tell each other.

As Wellington said on the subject : "You might as well try to write the history of a dance".

The history is that the Battle of Waterloo happened. Everything else is interpretation based on bias or involvement. For the French it may have started on Sunday, for the British it may have started earlier or later. Either way, it happened and that is the "history".

History is simply a record of events.

My wife teaches at a university here in Texas. We have this type of debate all the time. Professors, teachers, and writers are where the bias comes in. It is the same type of argument we have about Political Science. Is Political Science a science or a humanity study.

This bears out in several ways. At some universities, history is part of the philosophy department at others, philosophy is part of a history department.

Interesting debate though.
