-The credit idea has been deserted and has been replaced with the voodoo cards as presents. The equivelant is higher as you can get up to 4 cards per day youself (plus whatever else your friends send you) which is about 20 credits worth every 4 days.

-The fame formula from governor's daughter will be changed to something more sophisticated. This will happen soon, at worse till tomorrow. This does not have to do with the specific situation but rather to the necessity of having a formula that can work with both power trips and power crashes. Relying on a cap is a sign of bad design anyway. It will stay based on % but it will also take in mind the power total and adjust % based on that. Currently it has 2 flat rates based on power; we will replace this with an algorithm that will dynamically move %. For the sake of balance, we will maintain a cap which however will also be decreased to a lower amount (most probably 500 000 fame - still it is a big amount but a fair one for a big player).

We are also going to replace 2 existing voodoo cards with 2 news ones. Details about this will be mass messaged to everyone, in-game. The cards that will be replaced will be Rotten Food and Agitate. Both cards will be removed from the game set for now and anyone already owning some of them, will get the new cards in their place. The new cards will most probably be:
*Rotten food will be replaced with "Snitch" which will grant you details about a fleet (ships damage %, fleet order, cannons and crew)
*Agitate will be replaced with a card that has not been designed yet but will target ships not in a fleet.

Today was a big day as we implemented cross-account combatibility. The best login is still our own (with auto-login) but now you can use google and facebook accounts. We got some more work on the whole login story but hopefully we will be over soon with it.

This is mainly for new players as it provides a one click-seamless registration for facebook + google account owners. We also published the game into Facebook and Chrome store. If you got any other places in mind where we could publish it, feel free to send me a pm.

Hopefully, these actions will make it easier for new players and we will see an increase in this. In relative news, the game has been growing steadily over the past few weeks and especially since voodoo introduction. We still lack a big playerbase daily active playerbase though, one that will add extra spice to the game.

Therefore this is a good chance to invite your friends over ? And also teach them the game a bit as it can be really challenging at start. This is another point we will focus soon, creating some better tutorials,ones that interact with the user.

I personally hate tutorials and manuals but both are necessary in order to keep a steady influx of new players that actually play the game.

On development, we are still working on a huge update in our security and anti cheat system. It is expected to finish in the new week and till then the other updates will be delayed.

Also, if you had trouble getting into forums, this issue has been now fixed. All you need to do is to Change Password in the account manager and it will automatically fix your issue with forum login.

Not true! :roll: With the prices of officers rising at rates that can only be described as ridiculous, no new player can get to the top without buying a ton of credits, then voodoo, and finally throwing his/her ethics out the window. I am ready to lead the game but I am not going to get there by spending all of my gold on Captains. I am almost ready to take the third step to victory except that it is against my nature to take advantage of a player who refuses to participate in the game now that he has an otherwise untouchable lead. He doesn't even have to play to continue growing in fame. He can simply auto refresh a page that kisses his wife and girlfriends daily and one more frequently that just keeps him shown as active. If he doesn't return soon, I will have to act against my nature and remove the deadweight from the top spot. :evil: :twisted:

This is a bit unrealistic but we have decided to re-enable this as it ends up in fustrating gameplay to achieve. Especially if your fleet is on a trade route, it is very bothersome to end trade route, buy cannons and then re-enable trade route.

The same thing will happen for Hire Crew action in the future. For now it will remain as it is because Hire Crew action is dependable on Port influence. We will make it so that when you are hiring crew for a fleet in travel, it will take in mind last port it visited. However this requires some extra coding and was not possible today. Generally, the only reason we won't keep to realism for anything in this game, is whenever this leads to fustrating gameplay.


Then may I suggest that we be able to hire crew members on the fly to adjust speeds? The current situation adds as much frustration to the game as the cannons did.

@Xephunsall: Looking at the top 20, there have been dramatic changes in the last month, including new players. The price of officers ensure that the top players are hindered in their growth. In opposite situation, it would be indeed impossible for the new players to catch up. This in fact was the case before officers introduction (See Backstabb3r case with 583 ships). As it is now, there are many ways to get to the top, some of them are really fast; there are numerous real examples too.
-The crew hiring at anytime is among our immediate plans as explained above.

Regarding today's (till-now) update:
-Black death has been reduced because 10% affect is massive. Population right now only plays 1 role and has to do with crew hiring. This role will be upgraded in the near future so Black Death affect tweak is a precaution for the near future.

-The fame formula for the daughters has been changed drastically. First of all, your total fame now does not affect the actual amount you receive, but the total amount you may receive. This means that even if you have some billions of fame, you will need to get 100% in each port to obtain the maximum amount.
*The maximum amounts are scalable and are based on game mechanisms.
*I do not wish to share the exact formula based on a decision we made to keep it more RP-friendly (it is also a PvE feature so it might be better in this case anyway).
*We also came down to the conclussion that prior formula was far too lucrative and in direct contradiction with all other fame amounts found in the game. We also decided that the only % fame earnings must come out of other players and never from the game as this can lead to unbalancing. In fact, the daughter feature has inflated the game a bit as all players earned % fame, increasing the total fame in game by a lot. With new formula, this side-affect will be corrected in time ( fame deflation mechanisms already exist ) so we will not be taking any more actions. Finally, the daughter feature remains more lucrative in fame award in compare to the other PvE feature we got: Patrol. However, since Patrol also awards gold, this is how it is supposed to be.

It is a US state. For example, If we allow Hawaii to stand as a nation,then we should add one nation for each state something that is not in our plan.
Our plan for countries is to limit the list to the independent nations only. Then allow the players to create their own nation later.

So if you want a Hawaii nation, we will give you the chance to create it later.
