Plantations - Quartermaster Bids

Postby Captain Jack » Sat Aug 11, 2018 8:44 am

Your Quartermaster can attempt to renew your deal automatically.

How it Works

First, make sure he is activated.

Then, your Quartermaster, will create bids on your behalf based on the instructions you give him.
The Quartermaster will create the renewing bid, 24hours before the expiration, for the exact amount of acres and if your limit allows for it, he will make the best offer at that time.

You will be able to see this bid listed, as your own bid (you will also be able to cancel it).

If acres are not available, there is a chance of failure if other quartermasters step up with a better price (or manual bids).

From what we can tell, you would all prefer last minute bids. Perhaps we can set the quartermaster, instead of bidding 24hours before the expiration, to bid 1hour before it. This will most probably work better.

Is there a chance that you could add weights to his bids, so that if a lower cost bid exists he would instead choose to bid that instead of just continue to bid the person who has out bid him on the earlier one.

Would like an option to DE-activate quartermaster.

tried changing bid to 0 be he defaults to 1 gc.

You can call him to go back to rest.

We updated Quartermasters to place their bids one hour before expiration of current deal.
This will reduce the chance of getting any other acres but will increase the chance of retaining the current ones.

I don't think one hr is any good either. I'd like to see him make new bids all the way to when the lease expires.
Let's say I'm willing to pay a lot for the acres, like 50, but the highest bid one hr before is only 50, then he will bid 51 and not go any higher if someone else offers more within that last hr? If that's how it works, then why have that function at all?

That's the point of leaving at least one hour. Someone who is in urgent need, he will have 1 hour to catch you. Although, odds are that 1 hour is not enough. There is a chaotic difference between 1 hour and 24hours.

The function is not there to ensure you get what you want, but to give you some peace of mind. If you are this urgent, what keeps you from registering a manual bid with the maximum amount right away? It is obvious that you still want the best price, which is acceptable of course but this does not make the quartermaster feature problematic.

The way we see it, is that rental market ended up a lot fiercer than expected. If there is a good change, then this is not to make quartermasters lightning fast. This is against the free market spirit. Consider this 1hour as a temporal measurement. Pushing them back to 24hours would be best.

The way we see it, is that they should be able to rebid based on extra orders (and extra cost). Perhaps also set a minimum bid too and a minimum difference (step,in gc) from last bid perhaps. Till we end up on how this exactly should work, we will keep the 1hour before expiration bid. Feel free to propose solutions.

An auction where I have to leave my last bid one hr before my competitors I wound not participate in in RL. I would be forced to put a ridiculously high bid in to ensure I get the item, no doubt paying a lot more than I would have needed to if I could bid all the way. So I guess no more quartermasters. I'll see to it I'm online at expiration instead, if possible.
Also the seller is a loser in this affair, he will not get the bet price someone is willing to pay. Might well have to sell for 50 instead of 500

Why not return it on 24 hr before expiration but make for quartermaster to activly bid till max designed ammount.

For example minimum bid 10 coins per acre and maximum bid 100 coins per acre so if my curnent offer is highest sweet if not my quartermaster cancel previouse offer and offer new one and it continues until he reaxhes 100 coins per acre if someone besten him then he gives up on those acres.

My impression, clearly incorrect, was that automatic bidding would be "ebay style".
FWIW I believe it should be, but with the governor given the option to reject disreputable bids.
