It would be interesting if nations could declare war or trade embargo on other nations. Players would not be able to trade at ports controlled by enemy nations. Also, Kings or Governors could choose to allow or not allow pirates to trade at their port. It would keep merchants from pretending to be pirates and would give much more meaning to nation controlled ports. Any nation that allowed pirates would get more trade, although they might be looked down upon by other nations. A pirate owned port like Newland would become central, since realistically, Pirates can't just trade anywhere. There would need to be a limit on ports that each nation can have though, and a good system for Kings, Rules, and National Actions

So with the above as an explanation I disagree with Tilemaxos, it would need to be possible to kick players out if we ever hope to progress nations to engaging levels

If a nation were to allow pirates to use the port why not allow for letters of marque or the creation of privateers? That way both the pirate and the nation would gain something besides just trade. Just an idea. This could lead to a "legalized" form of your mercenary for hire work you used to do. :twisted: :lol: :D

if nations can give out letters of marque and hire pirates, would they then be able to give ships to players.

I wonder how far this could go...When you complete the missions you are given a man o war by the "governor", If the nations had a treasury and the nobles of that nation voted to buy a ship for a player I don't see why not. Players do it now with each other. You just have to arrange fair trade and then have a Commandeer card to receive it.

War With Another Nation

What if the king/queen of a nation could declare war on another nation and if you take part in attacking a player/NPC of that nation it can help you with your Rank Promotion, by 10% each WIN on a player, and 5% for NPC's of the enemy nation. This would help some people who are having some trouble but you may never know when the king/queen is going to declare war.

Now, as this is exploitable, it should cast turns to declare war. I would like a suggested number, if possible. And if you could give me a serious number, not a sarcastic remark, It would be appreciated.

Most nations i have seen either have most people finished their missions or 1 person with most of the others inactive. Usually there isnt many people that are low down in the ranks. So going to war to help 2-3 people isnt very beneficial to most of the players. There should be another incentive to go to war. But if their is war the other nations players with appear on your list defeat enemies list.
