+1 - and agreed it should be a port building thus allowing you to put brothels in multiple ports - at some level of the brothel i would like to see port information be shared (the finance minister was bragging to the ladies about how much revenue the port is bringing in) because where else would politicians hang out - again information that could be had if you were watching daily but might be helpful, especially when things like blockades etc get implemented

Seems to be a lot of support for this being a Port Building,
I don't have a problem with this being implemented that way, it however may affect the second half of the suggestion where information is leaking.

Just going suggest this.

remains a hideout building, however port where brothel is located takes 10% of the revenue,

so if 15 players had their hideouts in port A, port A would get 10% of the take from all of the Brothels that had been built there.

or

As a port building any player could see governors of a port if that port had a Brothel built in it, and pay x amount of funds to get a random secret that had been reported.
money would go to the treasury, or perhaps part to the governor and part to the treasury.

see the governor
-- buy information
--- select port
----- this information will cost you 50,000 gc

Returns something like

Egyptian sailors visited one of my establishments today. They were complaining about the weight of the cargo crates they have been shipping.

I don't like the Brothel because it doesn't have a clear and unique purpose. It sounds like it's yet another way to passively boost trade fleet income. I'm not really interested in any more research-for-passive-boost technologies. The gossip idea is an interesting one but I whole-heartedly believe it should not require a hideout building to use. It just doesn't make sense that your hideout can build something to generate gossip. The Captain (Player) should go to the tavern and work their charm to discover gossip, not invest gold and passively wait for the info to roll in.

I want to see the "Port Gossip" page expanded to allow a player to spend turns to dialog with a tavern patron (choose a patron and then choose which questions to ask: each question has a turn cost and gold bar cost). Most patrons only know things like "how many fleets a target player has visited this port last hour" or you could ask "how many gold bars does it cost for you to give me a spy report for one random fleet of target player?". If you get lucky and find a suspicious hooded figure in the corner you may be able to find out how many attribute points a certain ship has (of course you may end up paying 250 gold bars unless you can manage to talk down the price).

I prefer an improved Gossip feature to a new hideout building.
