Network Help

Postby Admiral Nelson » Sat Jan 21, 2017 9:52 pm

Hi,

Anybody good with Networking here?

I have got to connect two 'sites', to each other which are 90 km away... For a written assignment?

Anyone good with Network Development, please message me.

I am not to knowledgeable about such things but a few suggestions that are a bit more practical for a 90 kilometers

Site to Site VPN

Use a remote access service provider to connect the sites

Setup shared account on a server somewhere and give both sites access

Physcodad considering, the max 'Ethernet' cable length is 305 M I do not think that will work.

Grimrock, do you have any idea how far it is away from each other? It would not 'reach' that far away. ( I have used a Wireless Access Point for the Study Room though ;) )

William has the best solution which is Thin Client/Remote Desktop Connection to the 'Site 1 server'

Similar to William I don't have a great knowledge of networking but we use https://www.citrix.com/products/citrix-cloud/

Its a cloud based workspace which is the way all networks seem to be going so probably worth looking at.

I'm old school and immediately thought of a dual hop terrestrial microwave point to point or a single hop satellite point to point hook-up.

Should put that in my Assignment, Stan...

Thank you SlammerG for the help as well.

I think the best thing to do at this case is just link them up via the Server. P.S This is not a actual network development for a site, just a site map.

From a security standpoint, a closed network the way I loosly described would be very.very secure as it would be private network almost unhackable by today's methods.

Hacking a website is near impossible. SQL Injection, Javascript Inserts, and XSS attacks are all easy to defend against. Sure you may need some help on how to avoid a DDOS attack, but that won't actually harm your site. Only will take it down for a bit.
