Perhaps add a way for Nobles or higher to invest personal funds into the treasury. I think that has been suggested before and I do not know why it was not implemented. but if 20M is going to be a requirement, then we need to allow at least nations with no ports a way of beefing their treasury aside from ship taxes.

The reason, I believe, this was shot down is it could be abused as a bank of sorts. No limit, no turns required. You would just need to vote for a payment.

There was a time in Avonmora that you had no bank to store your coin. No shovels to bury it. You would live by everyday income... Bloody bankers.

honestly it would be a rather inconvenient bank. I mean 3 turns is not much to pay, compare that to voting for a payment which takes 3 days, and if you made some enemies who really want to hurt you and know you do something like that, they could join said nation and attempt to wrest control away.

this could be bypassed to create a nation defense fund that can only release funds to letters or other future defensive options. the nation and nationals can donate to that fund but cannot retrieve from it.

The one nation issue is a small one and not really relevant. we already have them and if others want them to create these letters, let them. at least the victim knows that the nation/player lost 10 mil + as well and has a focus point to retaliate :)

i had hoped that the letter of marque would be totally different from bounty hunting. can the letters be targeting other nations as well? (for a higher fee?) i really like to see the nations to become more part of the game.

I like this idea. I do feel that all countries should be able to issue a Letter. Take someone like Tom Lowe. This should not exclude a player like him from issuing a Letter from Somalia.

I am also starting to agree with Haron that there should be a more limited amount of nations, just like there should be a limit on guild members... but that is another topic. :wheel

This will be good to have. Both for Letter of the Marque usage and use defence gold to protect nation (if Haron's war and blockade suggestion will be approved this funds will supply blockade )

Back then you had to pay a trustworthy player to commandeer your sotls and return them when needed. A trustworthy player could make a pretty penny for holding a fleet of sotls for a few weeks...

Problem with limited amount of nations. No matter what some players choosing to play under their beloved nations. Even they dont have ports or any gold incomes to help them make their nations competitive. still they willing to play under their nation's flag. Everything in this game is not just about competition for some of them.

With limited amount of nations you will take this willigness and excitement from them. I'm afraid this will make some of them to quit to play.

Question. If when you joined and saw that this Fictional Land of Avonmora had 20-30 Fictional countries to choose from, would you have stopped right there and not played because real countries were not represented? We wouldn't have known any better and I think you and I both would still be playing.

But we have derailed the topic. Maybe create a new topic to discuss, not that I think it's even a consideration.
