I would be ok with a 12 time frame.
Mindbars and counters will help
Pre-building tails to stick your new prizes into a fleet real quick
And some other tricks I'm sure people smarter then me can think of.

This not the end of piracy. It just adds more strategy.

I do also think that in the near future we need to solve the issue of "more use" for these ships however. I want to see Black Sparrow's 60's roaming the seas!!
I don't fear death. I look forward to it with great anticipation. For then I will met God face to face and let him know that I stole his Man of War!!!

What Black Sparrow has not mentioned is that he has considerably less SoLs than he used to have. Perhaps he can explain us why.

I will post the numbers in a few minutes.

Well I am glad my 1k post goes to willfully disliking this game breaking suggestion.

The number of SoTLs has declined because there is no point to ownership of them. Many of the richer possible SoTL owners are also port owners. If you could create a mechanic where SoTLs are used in port control, then many can be revived.

I have made the point that has not been answered before. Where does this leave a pirate? A pirate with 2 SoTLs say and an entire guilds worth of voodoo ready to levi it if they cannot get it, or blast him/her with voodoo.

There is no reason to pirate then. Say you raid a merchant's wallet like Vane suggested. Okay, do that daily and then that rich merchant will soon put a SoTL in every fleet. Now you can't raid their wallet UNLESS you put SoTLs in your fleet. Great, now they can levi your fleet and you still can't raid them.

There is no pirating anymore with this. There is no point to calling htis PIrates Glory if there are no pirates.

Pirate Flagship anyone? Escorts won't be an issue.

Also I have never been levi'd for taking gold.. only ship stealing.

This is my point. Vane, you have a massive voodoo chest while most don't. Casting on you 99% of the time leads to something worse happening later so most people just take it. Now take someone with just 1k-2k in their voodoo chest. Oh after you raid them more than twice, they will start using voodoo I promise.

Then pick your targets better.. and don't raid them too often. Many of the larger merchants know the cost of business and understand piracy having its place, most don't respond to simple gold raids. If you go for cap ships you'll always receive a response. Use this knowledge and pick and choose the battle you can win and or profit from.

A citizen doesn't walk into a bank to often now and attempt to rob it... the few successful roberies are done by those with the skill, resources, and connections. If your a little guy you can't expect to take on an army.

Well. Then I ask you. Who is there to raid that carries a decent purse, not in a guild, and is not overly aggressive?

Sure you can not raid them often, but then how do you make money?
