Genetic Engineering

Is anyone here as hyped as I am on it?

Go search on about CRISPR or go watch videos about it.

Tell me what you think about it, is it devils doing? Or not?

Nope. Homo sapiens have survived for thousands of years without artificial genetic manipulation. Messing with natural selection is stupid. Studying to understand the human genome is another story.

I've done extensive research on CRISPR and I believe that it has many positive applications, but I also believe that it is the scientific equivalent of a child with a chainsaw. We don't have the understanding or the foresight to use this technology to its full potential while doing so safely. The slightest mistake could cause a complete upheaval of the food chain universally. The concept itself is incredible and I am excited to consider the wondrous help it could give to people across the world. It's already being used to eradicate the breed of mosquito that transmits the Zika virus, but it could also be used to restructure the human genome to be more resilient to cancer or Alzheimer's. On the flip side of that, it could be used to control the breeding of bees and end up causing an entire species to die out leaving many plants without their main pollinators. I suppose what I am trying to say is that we are simply not intellectually or morally prepared for the power we have achieved.

Homo sapient also survived for thousands of years before creating civilized societies. This is just another chapter of the book called "Future." I'd love their to be research that could alter genes. This could lead to a cure for cancer or Alzheimer's, stopping mutations, and killing all Hillary supporters

To me, the most worrying thing on this is what if a carnivor is engineered to be the best hunter, and was accidentally released from its captive, that would ruin 50mill years of evolution to get to this point.

But at the same time there would be cons and pros on it, but in the far future, when this is common, there would be ignorant people who wouldn't appreciate how far it took to make such, like how we take phones and computer for granted.

That's a good point, but I'm sure human ingenuity would overcome such a creature.

although why would we make such a creature to begin with. making a super carnivore hunter is just asking for trouble. it would also serve no practical purpose.
