And no, why would I lose all of my fame/gold for switching nations? I might understand losing some influence, but that's it. Fame has nothing to do with nation, so nation-switching should have no bearing on it. :D

There should probably be some sort of influence loss, maybe 10% is too little, but 100% is far too much.
maybe 20 or 25%.

Thank you for the correction. English is my second language so it sometimes slips up ;)

The idea behind 100% is this. Imagine you are in a country. Lets say US. You get famous for your actions, and gain influence for action you have done in US. Then you Move to China. China won't care what you have done in US. They have different issues, different goals. So you start over working to become somebody in china.
It might sound harsh. But it makes sense. Al least to me.

it makes sense, but just because it makes sense doesn't mean its a good idea. imagine if your idea was implemented before you switched to Isle of Man. you would have lost 230Million influence. I think the penalty should be about 20-25%. the absolute max should not be more then 50%.

Honestly i wouldn't really mind, considering what we would all gain.
People would be more loyal to nations that way. And not switching them around like dirty socks.
Raiding a nation would still be possible but it would cost much more.

What about influence transfer

25% of leaving members influence for that country goes to the highest influence ranked member remaining in the country.

I'll bump my thread "Nation Change Barrier". Perhaps more people will find it interesting now.

As for 100% being th most realistic, I don't agree some of your influence made doing task for one country would carry over some people would follow you more than the country.

As for useful addition to this topic i have none :)
