Mercs are getting recognized in Avonmora.

Postby Valar Morghulis » Fri Apr 29, 2016 9:12 pm

As the title says. Mercs, at best they're tolerated, are a part of Avonmora.

So, how will the inhabitants of Avonmora react if there are a healthy population of assassins running around?

There is enough hatred to go around. Sadly, also enough gold as well...
PM me any complaints (10M gold coin wire fee is mandatory).

Mercenaries are a phase the game is going through : they seem like an option for those who dont want to dirty their own hands but is being the one who shakes, wipes and zips up some rich player really that enticing as a job description? Well, horses for courses, I suppose : personally I find the idea of coming home from work, having sold my skills and labor for coin, to then log-in to a game where I do the same to be the very antithesis of enjoyment. In Avonmora, I want to be the one who makes the decisions when I go to war, not some lazy or cowardly paymaster who points in the direction of their enemy and says, 'go kill, doggy!'.

Although thats your dream for PG Danik. The game develope. There are like 10 players with huge voodoo stacks when my family if figting to keep home running. I dont need pity.. i am more than ok. I just want to show you that mercs will come eventually. This is life. This is how others enjoy the game and be happy. You made PG a boring game. Cooporation between mercs can bring domination in Avonmora. Do you fear of it?

The dog word is a bad one. When you treat bad to a dog, the dog bites you...

Not sure what your point of criticism is with my comments : I think mercenaries to be a poor path for players to follow as it will end up in a dead end, in same way small fleet raiders self-limit their progress overall : I think this game is too complex and deep for narrow game-choices and can offer more than just one style : if you find that variety and complexity boring, I dont think much will please you then. I dont fear mercenaries combining to dominate PG : much like pirates, they generally dont get on well in groups as each of them consider themselves to be the 'natural' leader so often will fall out and hurt each far more.
Your point about the 'dog word' is lost on me too... unless its to say be wary of using attack dogs in your work, they can turn and bite the hand that feeds them. Particularily if they ever get the notion that its they who should be in charge, not their masters.

Your idea looks similar with mine. I've created a system that will organise mercenaries and make them specialized, developed and rich. You can check El Dorado Industry Bank forum. After we can discuss if you want further. All together, we can make the game way more fun.

well, reversed pyramids are a bit unstable... thats why they tend to build them with the flat side on the bottom..

A strong leader on the top of the pyramid, that seeks the wealth of its members, a leader that will organise everything, a leader with enough support from veterans that seek to the development of the game and not their own, can keep the pyramid stable.!
