New players to the game are granted exemption from taxes until they spend at least 1,000 turns in game. Giving them lots of time to learn about their chosen nation and it's structure.

This is true - As the mechanism to set high taxes is in place, high taxes can be set. A king can pillage the treasury of the nation, as the mechanism is set. Just as a pirate can take ships and plunder trade vessels, kings and nobles can plunder their treasury and subject citizens to outrageous tax loads. It is a game of treachery, intrigue and greed. There be many ways a bloke can slake is thirst in Avonmora...and there be consequences of all choices. It simply a matter if one is willing to accept them.

It is part of Pirates Glory - to say that high taxes will drive out players is not completely true - like many games online, the game play is learned by trial and error, and by set back and come back. The worst thing that will happen to a new player is he racks up a huge tax liability and turns pirate. he's free of Mexico's oppression, or he can figure out to make it right (why, I do not know, but he could.)

To banter who's right and wrong, meh.... you are both right. You are both wrong.

There are consequences for all actions - ye just never know for certain what they be until the actions have passed, Some you'll see, some you won't.

So, Mr Rothschild could you explain this?

13 Hours 27 Mins Promotion Mr. Rothschild (#49473) is now a colonel of Cayman Islands !
15 Hours 11 Mins Law England England has revised the law Ships owned Tax
02 Days Promotion Mr. Rothschild (#49473) is now a captain of Cayman Islands !

To change a nation you need to perform a task and that needs some time to be over. If you wanted good for your ex country, why have you already prepared your immigration to Cayman Islands and (probably after this thread) changed your nationality before than you planned?

But... like SHM said: ''It is part of Pirates Glory''.

A couple reasons. Firstly I apologized for a rash ill planned action. The only way I could see it being remotely prevented is my defecting early in hopes another English player takes the crown and can match my vote on the law preventing it from passing. The second is in a new undeveloped country I can go about my plans without affecting other active players.

As stated I am sorry for the initial move made, this was my best and as far as I know, the only option I had in hopes it could be rectified.
