Changelog Discussion

Any game related discussion can take place here. Examples: Discuss about how bad the merchant rates have been lately, how rich you have became by following this specific strategy which now needs to stop etc etc

Indeed, if the war ships are sent ad hoc, yes... you are correct... but any war fleets with a trade route set but paused to allow a diversion will show up as 'spotted'.. you will not know if they left or not. I know not all have war-fleets set to trade when 'off-duty', but it's a common enough practice to have them earn their keep.

It's all good though, change breeds new offensive tactics and new defensive moves and keeps the game fluid and much more interesting :)

Aye, I had already thought of that yet decided to intentionally leave that play out ;). As you said, it allows new play books to be written.

Indeed, just in the year I have been playing, its been fascinating to watch move and counter-move as tactics have been tried, refined and then changed again as counters are developed. Its one of this games strongest points : there is no one path to glory, there is no ultimate defence : anyone can be hit and 'killed' : anyone can find a niche strategy and enjoy playing against even the toughest opponents ; and best of all : no-one truly 'dies', you can always re-build and go on to exact vengeance ; perfect!

The "debt amnesty" Avonmoran policy is to mainly help you to keep your lists clean. The rates chosen are mostly to keep inactive players out.

For real loan/debt control, we will implements management tools for nations. These will be installed at a future version and some will cooperate with the bankers.

in response specifically to your reasoning. i would think that having time quantities that are measured in Years could end up proving problematic somewhere down the road. i would suggest weighing out the pros and cons of changing the time measure to 6 months regardless of "debt" amount

Is your country debt list clogged up right now? This is our main reason, to keep your lists clean from uninteresting debts. For the interesting ones (those of active players) we will let the bankers do the dirty work (thus why this improvement comes at this time).

As countries play a more prominent role in a players life in this game, I would like to know when approved law suggestions will start to be implemented, or where they are on the list of priorities. There are also many suggestions that have not been approved or disapproved. I understand that there is a large amount of content currently being processed, and so a time frame is the best thing for current nations to know.

We code on demand if need be. So if you want a specific law to be prioritized, let us know and we will see how fast we can deliver.

If you are simply asking for general whereabouts, the only law currently competiting on priorities with other features, is the Loan Insurance loan where countries will compensate unpaid loans (up to a % and amount chosen by officials) to bankers.

Code: Select all
1.5.21: Market fee for gold bars is now at 2.5% (instead of 3%)

This will allow more room for profit for all traders. By utilizing Indian Company and Duke bonus you can maximize your profit.

Here is an example with current rates:
Gold Bars sell for 2781 in Thorakas - 600 crates of Gold Bar will cost you 1,717,300 Gold coins.
Prote buys them for 2991 per crate - 600 crates will sell for 1,849,250 Gold coins.

A profit of 132k for one trip.

If you use Duke bonus (let's say you are a Mexican Duke, as Prote is Mexican) then we will add 2.5% (roughly 46k bonus)
If you also do it on automatic trade route on 5xEnglish Indian Company using Large Merchantmen, add a further 2.5% (another 46k bonus).
Total bonus amounts to 92k + 132k = 224k profit for 1 trip.

Right now, the best way to utilize this kind of trading is obviously manual trades, either scheduled or by utilizing warehouses.
If you wish to automatize it, it will need a lot of tuning to make it work reliably. Here are some tips for automatic setup:
1)Employ fleets specifically for this reason. Make the fleet as fast as possible. Use a Treasure Fleet voodoo card on them to avoid danger. Using 1 or 2 warships as escort might be a good idea as skirmish will be launched in the near future.

2)Set the price difference according to your needs but avoid less than 5% difference to avoid running negatively. Best use at least 6% difference. Remember, market fee is 2.5% on buying and 2.5% on selling. If you use both bonuses you will completely negate the market fee.

3)You can use all your merchant fleets to also trade gold bars spontaneously. This requires careful planning at the moment as the fleets will not sell or offload the gold bars if the buy price is not met. This means that you can have a trade fleet going circles without selling anything as the price will not be met. While this should be good enough for a fleet destined for this purpose it is not good for a regular trade fleet. Soon however, we will resolve this issue with an extra trade route option.

Code: Select all
1.5.20: There is no longer a limit in how many loans a bank can issue per client.

Since the clients are already limited by the account balance and banks are private business run by players, we found this restriction uneeded. We even wondered why we put it there at first place. Probably to push players to use multiple banks. Well, it is off now and we are preparing some laws that will help both nations and banks.

Code: Select all
June 04, 2015
1.5.27: NEW METRIC: From now on, all ports will display since when they belong to current nation.

Day 997 is the starting point for this metric.

This metric will soon appear in the Court Port Summary page. Futurely, this can play a role for gameplay.
For now, it will mostly help in Avonmora Herald article generation.
