Yep.

I see 3 real options for captured soldiers
Ransom, execute or work them

If by "plant workers" you mean workers on a plantation that defeats the whole point of the kidnapping suggestion. The idea was proposed as way for those who don't own plantations to get in on the action.

So you get armed soldiers loyal to you that will arm themselves with the captured soldiers equipment when they board.
if you have no plant, the disembarkimg captured soldierd are are sold to market to go to someones elses plant or to be ransomed back to their ports army hiring pool.

This is automatic when you travel to your hideout.

If you dont want to do this. You can execute them and dump their supplies overboard to empy your ships holds.

Where does the non-plantation owner get the loyal soldiers from?

Npc at your hideout (Free)
As largest soldier cost would be the equipment you have captured

Id like to see players without plants be able to capture and kidnap crew .. hence the curse and the xxx plunder or damage you may have to make depending on your tech ..

I do think hiring is good too .. but perhaps the difference between hiring and kidnapping may be if you are kidnapped a ransom can be paid .. or not .. negotiate like op requests do now...
Also a meanie-head

Hideout, because its the only place independant of nations but still tied to ports

It's a good suggestion, but it would make more sense to just purchase arms for your own soldiers. That's how armies (and most pirates who attacked things on land I might add) got their weapons. It's certainly a better suggestion than others though but it's more complicated than it needs to be.

Its only complicated cause your needing a rationalization.

Function wise.

You steal a ship carriying soldiers.
If you sail the ship to your hideout.
You get money for the ransomed soldiers.
You get loyal soldiers esentially for free.

You have the option to execute the capture soldiers (fire them)
If you want empty cargo holds (assuming soldiers/arms =cargo space in transport)

Suggesting when you hire soldiers they come with their arms.
And my rationality is that arms are the primary cost associated with a soldier, this being the excuss for cj to give us free soldiers in this instance

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't most plantations have literally hundreds of thousands of workers on average? How many guards would that amount to? Merely having the ships to transport armies of the size necessary sounds difficult, if I can only carry the amount of soldiers equal to the crew, I can only carry about 6,000 men. Which isn't enough to attack even small plantations (if my understanding of their size is correct).
