Jack nods

Using the galleon for a trap is an excellent idea. I'd just like to say they almost certainly know that we're coming though, it's been publicly advertised quite broadly. It's likely they'll send a ship but it'll be a smaller one, a brig at most. I recommend we take the ship, make her look weighed down with cargo by putting stuff on the decks, boxes and such. The ship will mock surrender and as the pirates come aboard a good amount of men will come rushing out of the hold and take them. What do you think of that?

Carl nods

Sounds good to me, any objections from the other captains?

John is hesitant

Well if that is what you want to do, that be fine by me. Although, it seems to be quite a risk trying to spring a trap. Not all pirates are foolhardy. I can think of a few ways this could backfire in our faces and we be down men.

Barbossa stepped forward.

Or we could use my vessel as a spy- as has been her purpose for many years.

Jack fiddles with his cutlass handle

You're probably right. Shall we put it to a vote?

Dreadbolt pondered this for a moment.

While my opinion likely isn't worth much, given past actions, I say we send the Pearl and Captain Barbossa ahead to scout. We've already seen how fast his ship is, and it's less likely to result in bloodshed, given how convincing they are.

Jack coughs

The only problem with that is that uhhh we’re still not quite sure who they even are. The cutter hasn’t gotten back yet.

...Then why was it suggested to send it as a scout if it hasn't even got back?

Jack frowns

We’re sending the galleon, not the cutter.

Carl nods

Aye, I said we would use the cutter to scout, but it hasn't gotten back yet. Forgot about it staying behind. It should be coming back any day now I reckon with news.

From the eagle's nest a man shouts

Oy, small ship coming at us. Think it's that cutter.

Carl smiles

Speak of the devil. Once we find out our pal here is legit-or not, we can put things to a vote. If he is legit, then I'm fine with using him as a spy. That will be my vote. If he's not, plan A it is.
