Following the interest shown from Skyhawk in another topic, I thought to reply here to keep it tidy.

So, here is our latest details for this idea:

  • Treasure feature will be used by players to store gold and it will cost turns to store (in contrary to current model where cash is used as in buying warehouse space)
  • Every port will get a DETAILED MAP and its vinicity TOO. At these maps, players will be able to bury their treasure.
  • Priority for this feature is high but definitely after the GOLD RESOURCE which will AFTER all provide all the MOMENTUM functionality for storing backup gold (just think that the most valuable resource now is tool at 20 gold coins a piece. A gold bar will be much more expensive and about 2000 gold coins a box. So, a 100k warehouse will be able to hold about 200 millions gold coins instead of 2 millions that it can hold now)
  • Most probably, you will be able to bury GOLD resource ONLY. Generally, GOLD resource will play a great role in the game once it is implemented.

The ability to bury this resource is a good idea. will there be a limit to what or how much that can be buried. and if a player can bury this resource will there be a way to recover it if that player quits. or will it be left as is.. Just a thought there could be a stockpile just left . this could later be used to fund a scavenger hunt for newbies to give them a start amount.

Buried treasure and banks, sounds good to me. Going off of the original post....

With the A method apparently not worth it for the really big players, but more money than I'm going to have in a long time as a new player, I think you should have both methods.

Method A- Good for new players, keeps them from being wiped out, but not too useful for big players unless they just want a reserve of a few hundred thousand or whatever.

Method B- Easily store any amount, which is good for big players, but with a slight risk. Also, old/dead/inactive players loot would stick around as well as some NPC loot, so good for burning turns with a slight chance of getting rich. \

Great stuff!!

Some details on our progress so far on this feature:

Banks
=-=-=-=-=
  • Bank will be a hideout building.
  • Expensive building
  • Level affects the maximum amount of stored gold (later, may also affect total size of net worth)
  • Bank deposit cannot be stolen by anyone/no voodoo card will affect it.
  • Bankers will set interest rates for loans and deposits per individual deal
  • Zero interest rate for deposits will be possible
  • The banker will be able to steal his client's DEPOSIT ANYTIME.
  • A LOAN RECEIVER will be able to steal the bank anytime.

Obviously, a bank will only make profit if its banker makes the right choices. We will offer scripted contracts based on time in order to facilitate loans. Deposit/Withdrawal will not require banker's interference although he will be able to adjust interest rates based on the client.

Regarding with the banker ability to steal DEPOSIT and LOAN RECEIVER not to pay the debt, hopefully it will create interesting relationships between players as trust will play a great role. It will also have extended interest, as an inactive client's gold will be taken by the bank with no retaliation possibility.

These generally, are policies that will be determined by the bankers themselves. Each bank will get its own page where the bankers will be able to advertise their offers.

TREASURE HUNT
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Now, the treasure hunt scenarios are a very big headache for us right now. Here is the COMPLETE (leading but not final) idea so far:

Treasure Store
  • You can bury gold coins.
  • You can bury gold bars.
  • You can bury in the vicinity of each port (21 vicinities)
  • You must be in the selected port to begin burying
  • Burying consumes time. Gold amount defines the total time needed. It will be paid with turns.
  • You can choose to increase the time needed for your gold store. Any excess time you choose, can be paid only with turns.
  • You can choose as many time in excess you want. It will be relevant to the total amount you want to bury.
  • You will need to prepay the time in turns and hours before gold burying actually takes place. Or simply said, gold is buried at the end of the burying. (exploitation anti-measure).
  • The more excess time you pick ,the more difficult it will be for other players to find it.
  • Your treasure will be able to be found only through the treasure hunt feature.
  • There will be a limit of 100 Millions gold per port (maximum treasure).
  • You will be able to un-bury your treasure by using turns (1 turn per 250k)
  • There will be no individual listing of where your treasure is. Only the total will show (makes it more realistic and increases the security of your treasure - ie your co-worker won't know where you stored it).

Treasure Hunt
  • Every player will be able to participate in the treasure hunt
  • You will need to move to the port you want to search for treasure
  • Treasure hunt will consume turns. You will be able to put up to 400 turns at one go. Turns will be spent only when you wish to. You will be able to amass any number of turns for this purpose before using them (ie 8000 turns)
  • Once spent, you will be returned with a result relevant to your turn effort.
  • You may uncover NPC treasures too, not only players. - A treasure hunt will be profitable even if no players have buried treasures at the port you tried.
  • You may not uncover the WHOLE treasure of one player.
  • The treasure owner will not get a message of who found his treasure.
  • The treasure owner will get a message at a specific time set for all treasures (so no one will be able to guess off the timezone), that his treasure has been found by someone at the specific port, as well as the total amount stolen.
  • A global event will be created at the same time. (ie Skyhawk's treasure has been found in Aiora! A total of 4,506,325 gold coins have been found and seized!)
  • If you uncover a treasure of a dear person to you, you will be given the option to SEND the treasure to HIM. Since no one will know WHO TOOK his treasure, this can be used to earn the trust of a player (High act of loyalty)

Let us hear your ideas on these. We do WANT your feedback.

This feature alongside with hideout and special buildings are a MAJOR feature. We are ALREADY coding it. It will bring the game to Version 1.0 since Treasures & Treasure hunt were the final chapter of our initial design for this game (banks and hideout were not but this makes no difference).

Be quick with your feedback replies, we need them now ;)

My guess is that a ship can transport a gold bar, whereas gold coin cannot be. A gold bar, from what I can figure out, is worth 2000 gold coin as per the warehouse feature.

My first impression is that the new features, particularly the treasure hunt, will be a boon for the new player and allow them to quickly begin building their empire. It will add a new role - one of treasure hunter.

SHM, would you play a banker role perhaps? What you think it would take to make this feature alluring for a few players to try it?

Regarding, treasure options, I guess you like them? Would you bury your treasure as it is now? Knowing that perhaps a player would need at least double your turns to find your treasure or part of it? (turns per gold buried)

I use my turns for combat so if it costed a lot of turns to bury my loot I think I would just use bankers. Although it wasn't really made clear how depositing gold to bankers would work either. Would that cost turns as well?

Love the idea though, looking forward to a way to build up a huge Treasure :D
