Texas

It is my contention the the American state Texas is at least as much of a nation historically speaking as Wales is. In the same manner in which Wales has chosen to accede to the United Kingdom, Texas has chosen to accede to the United States.

Hey look it's a wikipedia description of the comparably brief period in which Texas was a self governing nation state.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republic_of_Texas

Now just like Wales, unless you have some personal connection to this geographical area you may well not see it as a national identity. however, just like Wales this identity is alive and well centuries into its existence for those who live there after being incorporated into a larger geopolitical unit.

Therefore I respectfully request that the Republic of Texas be added to the roster of nations which may be chosen by players entering the game etc.

Always Yours,

So by that logic we should include the Southern Confederate states as well they were a separate nation for a time too.

That is the problem with doing that it opens the door to many other identities that no longer exist (for better or worse) such as Nazi Germany or the Soviet Union to name a few, there would be too many nations if they were to allow that, so I have to say no Texas is part of the US and that is how it will stay until events change that.

Every time I read about Texas leaving the union, I say a little prayer that it be so. No more Rick Perry, George Bush, and Jerry Jones? Please go:)

As the quote from Full Metal Jacket goes, "Texas? Nothing but steers and queers from Texas!"

that quote doesn't belong to the movie, it belongs to the United States Marine Corps. R. L. Emery was a USMC Drill Instructor, and in all probability he actually said those words to a, or rather, several recruits.

Like Wales, Tx is absolutely part of a larger Union at the moment. The culture behind it is as least as relevant as that of Wales. Seeing as Wales is a pre-eminant nation at the moment, it seems rational to discuss Tx as a national body for purposes of this game, the same way Wake Islands, Puerto Rico, etc are nations in this game.

i hope puerto rico is a nation in this game... i dont really know exactly how to check and i have a tv that needs watching.

Texas is awesome. An insult to Texas is an insult to me. I declare war on you Cappy. For insulting the great republic that sort of almost kinda was.... for a couple of years.

Texas.

Sorta kinda is not the same as a stable nation it has to be recognized by the rest of the world as an independent nation, and if Texas breaks off then I would have no issue with it being a nation on its own, but again as it stands now Texas is still part of the US, if you were allowed your request then the Admins would have to allow everyone to have a nation based on a state or any nation that used to be that has had a far longer history than Texas, like many of the provinces in China before they were united under the Emperor of China, so since this game is semi grounded in reality, when it comes to nations at least, no change is needed until it happens IRL.

Perhaps if there was a sort of united nations within the game, then they could all get together and decide to recognize your suggestion as a nation or reject it outright, this way it is still player based and would prevent spam nations from popping up that consist of only one player, while still allowing the freedom for players to choose and make a nation.

I will be on the lookout for very large pick up trucks:)

I like that show Fast and Loud, they are from Dallas. Actually I was engaged to a Texan, pretty nice actually and smart as hell. Ended up at the Naval Academy...long story.

Oh, and I like that show Street Outlaws, the OK boys laid the smack down on texas in the finale!
