I agree with lets go with what we have and enjoy it.

I am confused about what would become the prize distribution tho.
12 other folk will miss out on a little boost while the other 4 teams get the bonus?

Anne Bonney suggested dtt pick a team from those left on the board when he returns and distribute as fit.
This way, they take 5th place by default and all that goes with it...there is no unfair distribution of prizes and all else sails on normally.

Thanks to Shadowood for the Draft, thanks to the guys stepping up and doing their best. It is appreciated even if we do ask questions and whinge a little sometimes...well...speaking for myself..

so its your idea to make someone who did not participate with a team an actual team thereby insuring no one who actually participated ends up with the placement they really earned how odd

I mean, what's the point in having a fifth team go to default? Not to mention him having to pick just the leftovers is unfair really. It's a dang shame, but just too late to fix in my opinion.

We can fix the 12 getting left out by giving the 4 captains 3 extra picks. And take 5th place and divvy it up to the other 4.

so there is no fixing it to where a team wins a credit along with any prize donated for the positions they otherwise fulfill
seems like a further step away from the format as it was stated

I would be for that If it wasn't for the fact that the 4 remaining captains have already picked over half their spots. This would give an unfair advantage to the 5th captain as they would be the only one who would be entering with no knowledge of who they may pick and why.

Edit-as to Dman, giving the captains extra picks I think is the best alternative. Sure it's further from the original format, but that format was gone the moment we went to 4 teams rather then 5. Might as well try to make sure the number of picks stays the same if we can't fix the number of teams.

thats why i oppose it once it is no longer the fantasy draft as its traditionally known then whats the point
its just a mutilation presented under the same name while not being what its supposed to be
we could call it the almost a draft as presented by someone other than the originator

Think you're being a bit over dramatic honestly Dman-going from 5 teams to 4 is hardly what I would call a mutilation of the draft. It stinks, sure, but I don' t think it's too big of a problem. Like I've mentioned before, just bump up the picks by 3, and the same number of folks get drafted, just to 4 bigger teams then 5. Then next draft they can be sure to have backup captains and we can go back to 5 teams.

Hell, hasn't some folks been saying they wanted the draft to change up a bit from time to time? Well This could be a good chance to have a more unique draft. 4 bigger teams instead of 5 smaller ones.

I like tradition too, but it's fine to break tradition and do things differently. Variety is the spice of life after all.

No dman...It's not like they are really sailing so ETD is not set in stone...so I didn't think of it that way..
I am merely passing on another suggestion for a possible solution which I thought was ok...place 5 by default..

Personally, I would have preferred the 'choose another captain option' but no button for it sadly....

Quit bickering amongst yourselves. This is a PG tradition trying to be held. Show some respect or don't show yourself at all !

Why should the other 4 teams receive pledged prizes specifically charged to last team to place or rookies on last team...you just cant do that!
How is that fair???
