Cause of death is a movable piece of data. In the end, we all die of heart failure no matter the cause of it can sometimes not be directly related to the 'headline' condition on our med charts.
They did tests on archived tissue samples and found HIV cases dating back to the 50's. Of course, back then there were no tests for it so those deaths were ascribed to other causes, like cancers or pnuemonia.
Underlying or pre-existing conditions muddy the water : did they kill you cos the covid made you weaker or did the covid kill you cos the pre-existing condition made you weaker?
No doubt a whole lot of 'causes' will be listed that are not 100% accurate. When one cause pays a bonus that another doesnt will invite a bit of creative accountancy, much like a lot else in life. 'Whiplash' anybody?
Should not detract from the basic fact that whilst covid may plateau or fall back over the next weeks, it will remain a severe threat for a long while yet until a vaccine or the slower acquisition of herd immunity bears down on it.

yeah. a good example of cause of death is old age. No one dies from old age. It's just as they get old body starts failing, and illnesses take hold.

They have released stress numbers here for ppl stuck at home....Mixed % for job loss/housing/food/...77% of people are stressed right out bc they cant be with family and friends...wow..skype, zoom, google class, mobile phone, many options...

Would that indicate that 77% of people are not ok in their own company for a while? Sheesh!!

Hanging out with family and friends in person is different then just chatting or seeing them with tech. Can't hug or kiss a loved one, can't go out and do something together, can't sit and play games on the same couch etc. So I can understand why people would be upset at not being able to hang out in person. I had plans to hang out with my brother on april 4th that had to be cancelled cause of the pandemic. Sure we still talked on the phone, but it's not the same.

I understand that Mel..I have family and friends too not anywhere near me..

We have Zoomed up and had dinner together, played cards and dice and Zombiecide with the kids lol..
Lack of physical contact isn't great I know..but it is temporary..
I guess at the same time, it also reflects that family is most important..79%.
Friends 71% then Paying bills @ 60%.

There is also a great deal of stress between ppl in relationships....so that would be tough...
I understand if you are not used to being on your own or cooped up developing cabin fever, it would be hard..but like I said, it is hopefully temporary and choices for communication methods are more than ample...and maybe time can be spent in a little self reflection and improvement..so they dont feel stressed in future if they have to be alone for a while..
(Sorry for 2 edits..)

@Mack...are you ok? lol

yeah I imagine it's extroverts who are most stressed out. As an introvert who rarely left home it's barely effected me honestly. Plus my state wasn't hit very hard anyway thankfully.

I'm the same Mel..doesn't bother me either..luckily.

I didn't mean to sound judgey, and on re reading perhaps it sounded a bit that way..but I was really just curious more than anything about ppl not enjoying their own company, needing others to make them feel ok/secure/etc...idk..maybe the rum is kicking in...lol..but as far as I know, a good solution to settling stress is simply acceptance of the situation...doesn't mean it has to be liked...it just is what it is

I'd be interested in an age breakdown of those stress figures. I find zoom, meet, etc really third rate as a contact method, but then I'm of a generation where letters were primary communication tool. Even phones were only for emergency or 'serious' stuff back then.
