They will be activated soon for now you can just rearrange ships in a way you like it

I am not persuaded for the ships market. While this was the initial idea, there is some ground of discussion here. You say need but why? I can see the problem for those no knowing what they put up but this can be remedied without revealing it to everyone.

Personally, I do not lean to either option. I stand right at the middle. The right argument will make it happen.Right now, the key argument is that the prospect of haggling for in-existent traits and tricking buyers is a good throw into the mix.

However, this defeats the benefits of having a market with integrity where a really good ship could sell for a lot.

However, I am leaning for the first option if we ever want to see "shipwright enterprises/business". In this sense, the ship built will now receive the name of the Enterprise instead of the player (at ship journal). We will have Shipwright stats and ships will be listed at the market under the shipwright title.

However, the game will not provide any insight in who is the shipwright owner while shipwrights could also select whether they want to list something under shipwright tag or anonymously. At the latter option, if added, no entry will be added to the journal (anonymous will be used instead).

Finally, we could have a reputation for each shipwright where buyers will be able to rate shipwrights and shipwrights will be able to comment as such. This could also be linked later with the business/stock model.

Well... under both arguments owners of ships already in the market when traits were implemented need to know what they are... wether we intend to scam them by pretending they are something elsr or whether we wish to be honest.

I approve of any development which allows ship-builders to differentiate both their product and themselves from the common herd of bodgers!

i like the idea of attributes being invisible on the market. this allows, if not even force people to communicate more when it comes to doing business :)

what i would like to see, is trait icons listed on the "my auctions" tab, along with auction link i could copy and send to willing buyer.

i really love the idea of shipwright enterprises.

After thinking a little yes even I can do that sometimes although it exhausted me more than marathon. I am somewhat in favor of owners being able to see traits of ships on the market. But traits should be hidden for buyers

Shipwright Enterprises:

There are 2 potential routes for this to work:

1/ On payment of a fee (like Plantation permissions perhaps) a player can set-up a sub-section in the current ship-market whildt operating under the same rules as the main market. Think of sponsored ads on google : this would highlight those ships offered by a particular shipwright.

2/ More complicated but preferable in my view is to create a sales lot which can be accessed by customers : it would be a form of Marina but without the protections that enjoys. It could be a form of hideout-type building with levels to be developed to provide sales slots. I could see it being licensed by a port-owner with a sales tax going to the port owner/governor too. So, some plantation/hideout hybrid with costs to develop making shipwrights a dedicated craft. For those unwilling to pay those costs then the public market remains as it stands.

Scenario : I have the good ship Daisy for sale : she is a 60pt SotL but is also double-trait : Extra cannon and extra level no less : this makes her a notable craft. Under the first suggestion I can place her in my market sub-set and publisize that in the forums. I then hope for vigorous bidding to attain a worthy price for her.
Under suggestion 2/ I place her in my own sales lot : I set a price and wait. Along comes PhatWallet who lusts after a powerful vessel like Daisy. She charms him and he makes an offer 25% less than I want. I send him on his way... but she is just too pretty so he increases his offer and almost matches my price. Good enough for me and we agree the sale. The price is paid over and off go ship and customer to dance amongst the daffodils.

As a shipwright, I just want a way to "advertise" if I have a ship that has 2 extra traits or a trait that is more desirable than others.

I can do a black market on the forums (which is what I am doing now). Where I build a ship and the buyer just commandeers what they ordered.

I would prefer to be able to list these special ships on the market and gauge the value better. Someone might pay me 150 credits for Ship of the Line with 2 Traits, but 7 other people might pay 200. That is what an "open" market like our ship market should be designed for.

The maker of the ship should and is currently hidden.
But the traits should be shown to all so they know what they are buying and can bid a fair and appropriate amount for the special trait ships. This way it is fair to the BUYER AND SELLER
I don't fear death. I look forward to it with great anticipation. For then I will met God face to face and let him know that I stole his Man of War!!!
