As a ship-builder/trader I will be certain to retain ships with desirable traits for my own fleets.. indeed yes. But building ships takes turns and materials which then cant be used elsewhere and are further capped by the turns limits. So I see getting a ship, of any class, with the Leviathon trait to be a rare and pleasant bonus that should not be restricted any more than any other trait.

I see your point, but there will be players that will build nothing but sloops and cutters for tails and will burn through turns just to have a powerful protection for their fleets.

Aye.. just as there are those who lose NPC battles just to lose a level and hope to gain more atts on the rebuild. The majority of us cant be arsed with doing that. Given the odds against getting that trait it will be an expensive turn-burning exercise indeed.

As an aside : just how many of CDV's stockpile will have that trait granted? And how long will it take him to check them all?

Will take CDV forever to get through all those ships. But yes, he has to have the lions share of the good traits already.

Well. Our great, great grandchildren should be able to hear the answer on that one.

So, next step is to display the traits to ship owners. Activation of ship traits will then follow, one by one. I will keep you updated.

So our ships already have traits? Do these traits already work? If so, we may try to guess what ship got what by watching her sailing?

The ships got traits. You cannot yet see them and they are not yet activated.

Regarding the Call Leviathan protection, let's see facts apart from current gameplay reality. As a developer, you must see beyond current strategies employed. You must not take them for granted and you must question down to their breaking point.

Here are some interesting facts:

1)This strategy is not even used anymore. At least, not as much as it was used. Why? Because the players who run big ships, usually take precautions in one way or another. And fewer players than before, run big ships, despite the improve economy in the game (which makes big ships easier to possess and maintain).

2)It is an expensive strategy anyway. Still, Call Leviathan has dropped below 10 credits. Why? Because the targets to use Call Leviathans run low. This is happening without this protection.

3)Do you remember the gold at hand case? Where demographics would show the player with the most gc at hand there. This prevented the whole playerbase from keeping large hands. When we removed this, some players complained that they will not be able to use booty masters effectively. It turned out they were very wrong.

Similarly, in this case, we strip you from the ability to 100% success rate. You can still use 9 leviathans and then a ship with Leviathan Assault trait to get the last level. So the tactic will still be there. It is only fair after all, if someone wants to dispute the last level, to get a tail with protection trait.

Only by giving this ability to the defender, you will immediately see many more expensive fleets in the waters. Call Leviathans will still be used but since the targets will now be more, they will end up being used more. Most probably, their price will rise again. Around 12 perhaps, at current credit gc price.

Eventually, as dev you should look to find ways to expand, not to limit. Limiting is almost forbidden.

Once players have tail ships with Leviathan Immunity we will see big fleets on the water for sure. A 1/20 chance for a "Leviathan Assault" ship is not enough to go after those capital fleets in my opinion. Many will waste 9 Levi's and 10 ambush and not even crack through. I see the cost of Ambush and Call Levithan decreasing because of this.

I see the days of MoW stealing coming "close" to an end. I mind not however...

I see great things with this update. Much needed diversity when it comes to battle and some in defending trade ships. Ship Wrights will rule the day! But pirates casting voodoo to steal ships... Might not be worth it.
