I have a question that may have already been cleared up, but I didn't take the time to read all the way through this topic. With the Spanish, Dutch and English Indies cards does the 2% per sale per card bonus also apply to ports that are controlled by your country? If I have 5 Dutch Indies cards working for me and I am trading between Tortuga and Tzogos, Do I get my nation bonus for sales at those ports plus the extra 10% from the voodoo for my fluyts, or will those cards not work in ports that my nation controls? :?

the card will "work" but the profit you get will not stack so if your duke or higher of a nation which the ports you run routes with. You will get 10% from rank bonus but not the the active company card. So the company can still be cast but it will be for a waste of turns and card.

If your rank is lower than a duke then the card will work for you since they don't get 10% extra sale profit.

:lol: I see. It should say this on the cad then. Nothing but plain trickery I say. :D This is kind of like the "undercover" aspect some of the other cards like booty master. If you are within a certain range the card will work properly. If not in the acceptable range no bonus or you are "seen"by the caster. :shock:

I am not sure what you mean Cpt Blue. The profits do stack but not on top of another but on base value. No trickery here, Xanadu.

Here is an example:

Welsh Duke, selling his good with 5 Spanish Company cards on Welsh controlled Tortuga:

Code: Select all
Base Cargo Value: 10 000
Duke Bonus: +1 000
Spanish Bonus: +1 000
Total earnings: 12 000


Treasure fleet lasts for 72 hours.

Forgive me if I'm wrong but it depends what you mean by 'stack'

It seems that you get all the bonuses on base value but they do not stack on each other. To me stacking would mean that in the example given -

Base Cargo Value: 10 000
+ Duke Bonus 10%: +1 000 = 11 000
+ Spanish Bonus 10%: +1 100 = 12 100
Total earnings: 12 100

If they don't stack then it's how Capt Jack put it, not that you don't get any benefit at all.

I removed that explanation from there as it seems to be the source of the confusion. I don't think that there needs to be an explanation there but only perhaps in forums for advanced players. That is unless someone can come with a short wording that explains it well.

Here are some extra information:

-East India company affects BASE price.
-Dutch/English/Spanish do not affect BASE price.

Here are some examples:

Example player is Xanadu, a Welsh Duke.
We will use a Trade Galleon with 150 crates of tools loaded in its cargo.
We will assume that the Trade Galleon docks at the port of Aiora, which buys Tool crates for 20 gold coins each.

Example 1
Nothing active
Code: Select all
Port pays 150 * (20) = 3000 gold coins


East India Company active.
Code: Select all
Port pays 150 * (20 + 1) = 3150 gold coins


If Aiora was Welsh and East India Company active
Code: Select all
Port pays 150 * (20 + 1) = 3150 gold coins
Port pays an extra bonus of 10% (Duke bonus) which equals an extra 315 gold coins.


If Aiora was Welsh, East India Company was active and there were 5 Spanish India Company active.
Code: Select all
Port pays 150 * (20 + 1) = 3150 gold coins
Port pays an extra bonus of 10% (Duke bonus) which equals an extra 315 gold coins.
Port pays an extra bonus of 10% (Spanish india company bonus, this bonus does not add up with the Duke bonus) which equals an extra 315 gold coins.
Total sum paid:  3780



Same as above but with no East India Company

While on it, here is the max yield for a full 5 trade galleon fleet, if everything is included (for verification issues)

Crate value = 25 gold coins
East India: 26 gold coins per crate
Base income: 750 * 26 = 19500 gold coins
Duke bonus: 1950 gold coins
5 Spanish IC bonus: 1950 gold coins
TOTAL income: 23400 gold coins

Just got myself and cast an Iron Golem, and think it's description can be changed slightly to make it clearer what it does. I was unsure before casting whether or not the resource created was random, or matched the resource type generated by the port, which would have influenced my decision of which port to cast on.

My suggestion is along the lines of: Adds a small amount of a RANDOM resource to target player's chosen warehouse.

Out of curiousity, I am also wondering: does it always produce approximately the same number of resources, or the same value of resources?

No such control; only a random amount of a random resource. You might get lucky and get a bulk of tools or unlucky as you get only a meagre amount of food.
