The port falls, and the invaders quickly set about taking what they want, before loading back onto their ships and preparing to head further north. Meanwhile the rest of the group quickly sail to Caspian, which is currently on pretty high alert given the large forces in the area. News had spread that Hannes has been taken as well, and that the Hannes strait is now under the invaders control. Zephyra and Eloth both wait in a tavern, Zephyra patching up some of Eloth's wounds as they wait for Jack and for whoever else escaped Prote.

Zephyra nods to them as they approach. Nearby Vune comes in and just sits down as well before speaking.

Well you all are doing rather poorly. Was hoping having my kids join the fray would turn the tide of the battle, but I suppose in hindsight that just provoked them into hitting even harder to compensate. Eh, no one important died, so it matters not. Regardless you all have about a week before that massive force hit's Valorim. And from what I've gathered their numbers are actually growing despite their losses. Not entirely sure HOW, but I have my theories. Regardless I can tell it's going to be an absolute bloodbath when they hit.

Jack orders some rum

Well, I wonder how they found out?

James looks around uneasily. Jack says

How the hell am I supposed to fight the bloody sotls? There's far too many. My men may abandon me. I'll have to promise them some serious hauls for this.

Vune shrugs

Well they obviously found out I had my kids helping when that envoy left. First thing he probably did was tell the fleet I had them stationed at the port and to hit it hard. As for how to try to beat their massive fleet, well, I don't have much advice for you on that. I am an knowledgeable woman, but my knowledge is limited in naval ship warfare and tactics. I rarely need to use such things after all.

Could always flee Valorim, and hide elsewhere. Granted they would most likely loot what you leave behind and trash the rest. Or you could try to ask whatever friends you may have to help in the battle. I also think Spain will probably send a retaliation fleet to take their ports back when they find out, but that will take some time before it arrives.

Regardless find out what you plan to do fast. I certainly wouldn't want to be on Valorim when they hit without being prepared first. You could also try to move everything and everyone into Emily's lair, and then the invaders would be forced to either leave it be, or invade her lair, which would enable me and my guild to jump in. I doubt they would do such a stupid thing though. I am trying to think of another solution, and I think I am close to finding one, but for now, that's all I have to offer in terms of advice.

Jack looks to James

As they get up to leave, Vune suddenly stands straight up and just laughs rather loudly as she shouts to them.

I just figured it out. I knew I had a magnificent idea in the back of my head, i just hadn't fully formed it yet. But now i have. Granted, it's going to cost ya.

She casually walks up to James and says rather happily.

That mage who enslaved you ages ago, I believe he is currently supporting that fleet. So, if you use that wish I owe you, to get revenge on him, then that gives me and my fellows an excuse to blast said fleet, kill him, and take out many of their ships. Then when those bloody OTTS come screaming that we broke a truce, I can say that it was strictly business and the ships were caught in the cross fire.

Though if you prefer to not use your wish for this, then good luck on facing them on your own. Since I don't have any other ideas besides that.

James rubs his head

Alas, revenge isn't in my philosophy. But if I could still wish that you could cause a frightful storm I'd be greatful.

Vune thinks

We most certainly could, but the mages with them could simply counter it. Then we'd be stuck in a silly tug of war, with one side making bad weather and the other side making good. You could use your wish instead to have us unleash some beasts and monstrosities to terrorize their ships and sink them. Pretty sure we still got several islands full of monsters that are literally just locked up doing nothing, could very easily bring them out and put them to use.
