Well it's starting to become a bit of a standard role these days in Avonmora. I normally lead ships and fleets, its what im best at, but I am also skilled in land warfare to some degree. You see due to how many of the ports in Avonmora can afford to maintain both a navy and a army, it is very useful to have leaders who can manage both if the need arises. After all, it would be terrible if an army only had a general who knows how to fight with ships on the sea as their leader or if a fleet had an admiral who never left dry land in his life.

But i have several decades of experience fighting on land and sea, so i should be able to manage just fine. Regardless, I do not think we can hold Prote, but we should make them work hard to take it. I suggest we use primarily Guerilla warfare, hit and run tactics, and rig a bunch of traps. We got very little time before they come down on us, so let's get to work lads.

Right. I better send most of my ships through the great strait.

Eloth shakes his head

Jack, in case you forgot, the great strait is south of us. And you know what else is also south of us? That massive fleet you all just ran from. I mean you COULD try to have them sneak or fight their way past and flee through the strait, but that could end in them being blasted to bits.

Now, I admit I am not as smart or clever as the rest of my family, but I would propose the smart thing would be to have them go north, through the Hannes Strait, then south to Valorim. They will steer clear of the enemy and should arrive there much faster then if the enemy tried to get there through the Tokelau Pass.

The old admiral thinks for a moment before chuckling as he nods to Jack

To be honest though young man, I think they'd have a chance, simply due to how shocked and unprepared the enemy fleet would be to see such a stupid move being done. I don't know if you ever heard this tale, but once a young stupid prince, in charge of an army was marching to the enemy's land. A large mountain pass separated them, and was the quickest route. All his advisors told him to try to fight through would be suicidal, and to go around the mountain, but he ignored them and went anyway. The enemy, miraculously had left the pass nearly completely unguarded, and focused on both sides, thinking no sane man would be fool enough to try to go through the center. So the young prince miraculously won the war by doing something that was by all accounts incredibly bloody stupid. I always get a chuckle out of that tale.

But, I do agree going north is the safe bet. Miracles like that don't always happen.

Fun fact, this actually happened in history if I remember correctly.

My father once did something similar by attacking two frigates with a brig. It worked. No idea how though

It's the shock value lad. If you never think an enemy will hit you in a certain way, then if they suddenly do, then your caught with your pants down. That and when you go in thinking your in for an easy victory, then your all the more likely to make mistakes and lose. Something I tell each and every person who serves under me, when you facing an enemy-always take them as a legitimate threat, and be serious and efficient.

Take the battle of Vitkov HIll. The hussites were a protestant movement when it was first starting out, and the holy roman emperor didn't like that, he calls a crusade, and at that battle 150,000 crusaders lost to bloody peasants, and were routed. Oh that was by far one of the biggest military blunders in history. All because that massive army thought they had nothing to worry about against peasants with tools. Yet another hilarious story I always get a laugh out of. Regardless, I can bore all of you with these tales another time. We should make sure we are prepared for the enemy. I would rather not have my legacy involve being on a list of biggest blunders if I am being perfectly honest. As for a plan, well, I will wait for some scouting reports. Then we can make an informed decision.

Jack checks his sword, taking it out and putting it back in

How do we prepare? I've got about 200 men btw.
