Carl scratches his head

But their fleet is divided into sets of 10 along the strait. They would just take the shipment from the front 10 ships and divide it from their for security reasons-they would be suspicious of fire ships after all given how they know you want to stop them, and given the fact that it's a well known fact at this point you rather enjoy using that tactic. So at best we could cripple 10 ships.

Each part of the fleet, as in, each set of ten ships, is expecting 25 merchantmen to supply them, 25 per packet. They are hips of the line, nintey and eighty gun vessels, so they're quite large, so it takes a lot to feed this fleet. These packets of vessels are not close to one another, they can't see each other in bad weather, so taking all one hundred merchantmen at the front would take far to much time. And when have I ever used a fireship? I like to set ships on fire surely, but I have never used that tactic before, well, mabye once or twice. And Carl, they would not expect an attack against this force, not from me. I've never attacked that kind of force before, sure I've tackled long odds, but never have I attacked a fleet where they are all ships of the line.

Carl just stares at him

These people are not fools Jack. They would make sure that the packets would be able to communicate with eachother in some way, either with small ships that serve as fast messagners or carrier pidgeons-what's the point of stationing them apart if they are all isolated from eachother-that's just begging to be taken out one at a time. And given the fact that you HAVE used this tactic before when against a greater force they would expect it-I recall you boasted about how you beat that larger Merc fleet in this very strait with that very tactic. Plus they KNOW you know about them wanting to build a fort to block the strait from pirates-and so they would expect you to want to stop them, hell if nothing else they backstabbed you literally about a week ago-so even if they thought you didn't care about the strait they know you might want revenge. And don't forget they literally sent an imposter who looks like Brian here to try to trick us-they are expecting us Jack, even a lunatic like me can see that.

And as for it taking too long to divide up the food for all the ships, since this is a matter of grave security they would be willing to take the extra time to do so rather then to literally let over a hundred ships deep into their defenses. And it would take, perhaps a day at most to do so. No one would starve to death in a day.

Jack scowls

I failed to mention this, but they do take them individually. This attack would be done all at once. And they expected us to come because of Brian's report. And if I believed that report, I would just attack them straight up with a small number of ships. They think that the report worked, so they'll expect a frontal assault with a small number of ships. Do you have any ideas?

Carl just scowls back

Again, these people are NOT fools Jack. It would make sense for them to make sure that their imposter plan worked and have a way of verifying it instead of being a bunch of damn idiots and blindly having faith that it worked. For example. it would not be hard for their imposter to send a message back to let them know that his inflirtation worked and you took the bait. If a message was not sent back confirming it, then they can assume that the imposter failed and to expect a larger assault. Also, wouldn't it make more sense for them to get their food from the OTHER end of the strait- you know where there ISN"T a goddamn island nearby full of thousands of pirates who would want them to fail and would love to blast their fleet to splinters? And don't you think they would have some sort of code of pass phrase their supply ships would need to give in order to be given access to the rest of the fleet? Instead of letting literally over a hundred ships into their defenses just because they SAID they were the supply ships.

Your plan has some severe flaws Jack. Don't get mad at me for poining them out. As for ideas, why not send a large fleet to circle around the south end and hit from the other end. It would take a couple weeks to do so, but fort's take months to complete at minimum. We could then coordinate the assualt to hit this end at the same time. Then we can bottle up the ships inside the strait, and force them to either sit and starve, retreat by land and abandon their ships, or try to break through one of our fleets.

inflirtation :D

Jack says

That's what my informant told me, they do in fact receive their food this way, though he wasn't sure about any code. We could force the man to send his message, and then go with your plan. Only problem is that if all those ships of the line decide to come through the straight we're fucked. I don't have the firepower to beat that fleet head on, at least not in that area.

Carl shakes his head

You seem to forget that the man is dead now. Veera killed him after she was done questioning him. We all saw his corpse when she called us back. Though she also mentioned there was some sort of easy solution to our problem. She said if we were more clever we would see what she meant. Perhaps you could make a deal with her. You offer to help her with her problem, and she helps us with ours-she seemed pretty worried about whatever she's dealing with, and if she can offer us a simple solution we should take it.

Jack nods

Alright.

Jack gets up, muttering to himself how stupid he was to to think of going from the south. He begins walking to the lair

Emily waves at him as he enters, though Veera just looks annoyed. Carl enters behind him and Zephyra just shrugs before speaking

Hey Jack, you need something, cause the 3 of us are sort of busy honestly.

Jack removes his hat again

I was wondering if we could come to a deal. I'll help you with your problem, and you'll help with ours.
