Help us create a great search list!

The new search feature also includes a game pages search. We want this to act like a helpful tool for every player wishing quick access somewhere or for someone who simply wants to ask a question.

In order to have quality results, we have decided to assemble this list ourselves. This is where you can help.

We need your proposals on what should be included there. Simply post in this topic when a search does not meet your expectation. We will make sure to add it immediately.

Hiya, I just tested out the Search function.

I tried almost everything I could think of what a player would search almost all of them showed up so GREAT WORK!

the only thing that didn't show up are:
Man of War - Maybe create a special page for this which provide newbies information on how to get it and etc.

nation titles - Duke, Captain, etc - They don't show up. I think the result would be a page link towards the title help page regarding any queries about ranks

Also voodoo name does not show - if your a new player and you hear someone mention a voodoo card your instinct would suggest to either ask the player about that card or use the search bar. But since most people don't like asking since they don't want to look stupid they would rather use the search box. So what I am suggesting is to add another tab for voodoo which will direct you to the card details regarding what you were looking for. E.g. if you type Bless - it would show names of players who has bless (if you are on general search) as well as the voodoo Bless (maybe coloured Gold) or if your on a voodoo tab it will appear as gold then if you click it a new window will appear which shows the card bless just like the curse encyclopaedia but directed to the voodoo you were looking for not just the general encyclopaedia.

Some may say that ^^ is similar to opening your voodoo list and clicking the info button but what if you don't have that?.

In general search, when I typed in "Bless" I got the player name but not the voodoo card until I clicked on the voodoo tab. For general search is it supposed to be all the results or not? If it's supposed to be all voodoo isn't showing yet

Also, I tried throwing in some newbie questions like how to build a ship or tutorial and I didn't get the help pages, or the tutorial, if these could be added newbs would have a much easier time finding helpful information and answering their questions when no one else is helping them

We changed title to Quick Search (instead of general search).
We added an explanation to quick search tab to show what exactly it queries ( players, guilds and nations)

We are adding the tutorial pages now. For future posters, always include the queries you used! It is helpful

I searched "plunder" expecting to see the help file for "How Plunder Works page" but instead I just see player names. On the far right I see the "General Help Index" which is the closest thing to what I was searching for but it's way on the side rather than in the "Quick Search" section where it should be.

I think the Game "Help Pages" should be a tab shown before the "Players" tab because it is much more likely to be searched for than a player's name.

The help and pages functionality is a bonus one. The primary one is indeed to find a player. All the rest are secondary. This is defined by the expected usage.

Take yourself for example, how frequently will you use it to find a player (and message / voodoo or simply check his screen) and how frequently to seek a game page?

Still, game help/pages show up in initial search (no extra click required - like for a ship for example). With time, your eye (and mouse) will drop directly to the needed space. We should discuss this again in a few days. I will be waiting for your feedback
