I understand that voodoo purchases is the straw that stirs their drink but without a happy, growing player base there will be no drink to stir. Something has to change or people are going to continue walking away.

First of all, you claim that people will continue to walk away. This is the number #1 excuse used by players when they want something from administration. It is not a fact, it is not an argument, it is an excuse. Please use it sparingly or else we cannot take you seriously.

Secondly, do not link a gameplay issue with our incomes. For the record, I have no concrete data on what we actually sell nowadays in the game. Because we do not even care for this part right now as we have far more important things in mind. If I had to guess though, I would not bet that people are spending their money on buying voodoo packs for a series of reasons. So it is really unfair to make such an untrue hypothesis and use it as the reason that we are not addressing "the poison".

Let's move further though as I have still points that I disagree.

There is no ongoing concern as you mention. My own picture at the very least is quite different. My point of view is that there are a few players, led by Grimrock who seem concerned. I am mentioning Grimrock as he is the one who has been pushing this around at any possible case. Either by periodical PMs to me, which signals that I am not the sole receiver or by several posts in the forums. However, there has been a voting, created again by Grimrock. Here it is: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=4105&p=64056#p64056 Out of 53 votes, only 1 vote went to the direction Grimrock would hope it will go. So I really fail to see any ongoing concern.

To close up with my disagreements, I will point to the direction you chose in your title and the nature of your post. Claiming that voodoo is bad and witch doctors are bad is not going to produce any results. As SHM said:
SHM wrote:This issue does need addressed, and the community here is one of the most creative I have seen.

Let us help the devs find that viable solution - dig back thru the forums, debate, discuss and create a solution.

Yes, i am aware of the Witch Doctor issue. This issue though, does not have to do with VOODOO in general. It is quite problematic to confuse a specific gameplay with voodoo in general. We have been over this in the past. We need to be specific.

I simply refuse to fuel this discussion by providing solutions, as there are other topics, where there has been considerable input from both administration and players, regarding the very same issue. Dig and bump at will if you want. We will continue from there.

Here is the latest topic, initiated by myself regarding the issue:
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3833

There have been a few more topics since then about hte same issue with considerable user input, initiated by other players. You can find them with the search feature: witch doctor

However, the first post provides insight on the problem and its history. It is important to read as it is focused on the problem and clears it out from the general voodoo problem misleading approach.

By the way, if you want to save time when reading topic initiated by me, always read through my posts first, skipping the rest in between. Every time I post a reply, I summarize the interesting facts from the previous posts and those useful to continue the discussion. It is also good to read your own posts too about it to remind yourself of your position. Of course, if time is not a problem, it is always best to read every single post.

We have talked and talked and talked about it. The solution doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be something. How long is it going to take? Plantations long? Flagship long? This is a situation where I feel like I'm beating a dead horse.

Personally, I'd like to see voodoo entirely removed because it is an unbalancing factor between both pirates and merchants.

The voodoo system is fine, It is built to even the odds between pro and newbie, and frankly even they decided they want to harm a nation so be it. It is built to where if you want to destroy something you can, and fleets help pirates and merchants alike in the process

I disagree, I think it should be impossible for players to ONLY fight with voodoo, and I think it should be narrowed down quite a bit, and ships should be a lot more damaging than they are, more effort should be put into this game.

I agree voodoo should be thrown out of the game. For attacks and battles I'd say that game called port royal could work maybe servers could nt supplement 3d models of ships and their movement but crude version could be implemented that way trade routes would be shown on the map and pirates would be able to attack everyone. Ships would gain importance noone would be safe etc

I disagree with voodoo being removed. there would have to be a way for the admins to make money, and removing voodoo would kill that. Would also kill the legendary voodoo ideas and would kill party routes and voodoo to assist ship battles, which would make stealing MoW near impossible unless everything had a specific function.

However, if we can replace them with artifacts and can only find them through shipwrecking and artifact huts, in which artifacts can be equipped to ships, then something could work.
