Dev Notes on future features

Any game related discussion can take place here. Examples: Discuss about how bad the merchant rates have been lately, how rich you have became by following this specific strategy which now needs to stop etc etc

Depends on if the nation sells the title of the land to someone or the actual rights to absolute ownership of the land in my opinion.

Awesome! Thanks for the update CJ!

Special Crew: "Every ship has certain number of slots" - Will each ship have the same amount of slots or will bigger ships get more slots?

I know this topic has been talked about before. Ill have to dig in the archives to freshen up on the discussion. I look forward to see your ideas on what crew does what (i.e. Witch Doc, Gunner, Captain, etc..) Assuming that one could potential have multiple of one class? Say there are 6 slots per ship. A player could have 1 Captain and 5 Gunners. Or 1 Captain, 3 Gunners, 1 Witch Doc, 1 Carpenter? Would love to hear your ideas here.

How does Special Crew tie in with Ship Specialization or does it? I have been under the understanding that our Ships are our "Characters" in this game. If they are, are we putting the cart before the horse here?

Excited for what is in store on anything ship related.

Port Tavern: Put me down for one of these. All are welcome at "Woody's" where the bar wenches are hotter than an Akrotiri Summer Night and the drinks aren't the only thing that are stiff.

Estate: Is this built kind of like a HIDEOUT. Where in your estate you will have other buildings? Tavern, Plantation, Blacksmith (foot battles), Foundry (special cannon shot), etc...??

Thanks CJ!

I like the line of thought. Also with land ownership, you could allow for raids and sacks. This could mean port controlling nations having to support garrisons of defending troops with taxes to protect against it. :cannon

The estate is more of a trophy room. A showoff. But it should be entertaining too.

I remember a discussion about crew as well. I searched for it with no luck. I am not sure it will be the same. What possibly is different is the idea to have them perform actions, even during battle. So instead of having an extra modifier, like ship abilities could do later on ship specialization, we get special actions.

Actions like casting voodoo from the witch doctor. For example, you will be able to set the minimum limit for bless and drums of war cards. Witch Doctors should be mounted only on fleet flagship, alongside with the admiral. If you have more cards than the set limit, the witch doctor will be able to cast these cards on your fleet right before battle to help it win. The better the witch doctor, the better judgment he will use (ie bless might be unfitting but call leviathan might be better) and the more cards as well.

Here is an example:

Code: Select all
Shadowood's Blossom of Swords (fleet, consisted by a SoL, 3 Frigates and 1 Cutter)  attacks Sir Henry Morgan No Mercy (Fleet, consited of 3 Man o' War and 2 Large Frigates)

Sir Francis (SHM admiral) immediately orders a change of formation to surround the enemy ships!
Vin Gol (SHM witch doctor) casts Bless!
Vin Gol casts Drums of War!
Vin Gol casts Call Leviathan on enemy Warship SoL!
Vin Gol calls for a Ship of fire upon enemy fleet!
Vin Gol Calls the Kraken!
PANIC STRIKES THE HEARTS of Blossom of Swords!
Brutal Joe (Shadowood admiral) gasps in awe before Vin Gol and sounds the retreat!
Vin Gol continues his casting maniacally....
..
...
....
Battle ends before even opening fire!
SHM WINS!
No plunder was possible as the enemy escaped!

This Vin Gol is quite an asset. Let's say Level 20 with Casting Level 20 -> Up to 20 casts per battle. Not something you would encounter any day of course.

The example above could mean that we will add more battle elements as well. Voodoo too perhaps.
Something along these lines.

Very interesting! Only thing I saw wrong in the above formula is, Shadowood never loses when there is MoW at stake. :D

Seems to be the best place to ask this; but with the new Bank Technology making people richer has come out.

Any sign of the pirate ship releasing soon? Or any pirate features? :)

Specialization: Special Crew

Seems like a different take on some of the suggested things before.

Admirals are something new tho, looks like what you are putting up will need lots of AI wouldn't it?

Port Buildings: Tavern

This is cool, because I know a few people who has been dying to want this.

Port Buildings: Estate

Yes! Meaningless money sinks where the point is not to get a return, but instead, for glory of brag rights!
The game suffers from lack of money sinks economically, this is apparent because of the fact that most new updates end up being eaten up a few days after it's up. (Like how cunning accountants has players that reached level 20 on the first day. Just, think about that.)
