I disagreed then I disagree now aswell it would harm new players if GBs are added to all ships I said then and I will say it now yes put GBs on ships above certain rank for example on top of my head let's say anything above merchantman requires gold bars

I could live with anything above a Cutter and Howker.. Newbs don't need much more than these to start.

Yeah I recall CJ saying that when there was 30k GBs in each port. That doesn't seem to be really working. As people advance in the game, GBs are being added faster than being used up. Even if we add GBs to ships, the rate of supply seriously outweighs the demand.

Part of the problem is the biggest gold bar sinker is the hideout-but once you finish it then the only other GB sinker is large merchantmen-which isn't a very big sink. There definitely needs to be something new to sink gold bars into.

those would both be good potential GB sinks. Especially if we make them to where they never stop needing GB's like the hideout and research techs.
I also recall quite some time ago CJ mentioned that there would be new future techs that would need current techs at a certain level for prerequisite. If and when those are added that would help sink some more GB's.

Plantations, Nation Strongholds, and Guild Hives- latter two in particular could need GBs for repairs and upgrades after engagements.

Also guild owned shipwrights that would require GB's and other supplies for research and upgrades, and for production of specialized ships, perhaps. Player owned forges as well where cannon and shot technologies are researched and goods for sale produced.

I could name other suggestions waiting for approval or implementation...

Yes howkers, cutters and sloops should be gold bar free ships. I know that I earned my first 1M with fleet of sloops while with cutters it would take littke longer.

I recall proposing that the base trade ships be Gb free : Howker, merchantman, galleon and fluyt : but the next step up should have a GB cost. This allows a lower cost basic fleet set-up for new players with benefits of better grades of ship once they develop more. I reckon all warships above cutter and sloop should have a fairly high GB cost which rises with any specialisations thst may be introduced
