I don't think mortars were very common in this time period if at all, and it would be incredibly hard to hit a smaller ship that is moving with one.
But enough with discussing realism. let us get back to the Roleplay. But be sure to check out the new roleplay and feel free to make a new character to participate in it.

in Avonmora, it's not entirely impossible that a pirate could have a massive amount of ships. It's just a role play, and remember another guy with a large armada helped him.

Just because it is in the game, doesn't make it believable for RP.

For example:

It's also not impossible for a player to have a 100 SOTLs. Or an entire nation's (multiple players) sending war fleets against you with their ships numbering in the hundreds. Or a single player arming 14,000+ of his ships and sinking everything on the seas, just by having shear numbers. But you don't see others saying that. They take the game and apply some realistic standards to it. As in the game, I could just cast 10 Call Leviathan on your flagship and it will go to the bottom. Using your train of thought, I could do that because it happens in the game. But we don't, because then RP would be unrealistic to the point that no one will want to play it. This isn't the Jack Teach Role Play Adventure. This is a community wide RP that anyone can join in on.

Yes Mortars existed back then. They were generally on there own ships, called Bomb Vessels.

True. But dez, I'm still going to play this character this way, I don't care how realistic you think it is. I enjoy playing like this and I will continue playing like this.

Ellen nods and begins sailing the Penitent Thief to St. Martins, with Jack and his fleet accompanying them. She has Emily stand near the bottom of the crow's nest as extra security for Morgan. Emily is rather bored as no one is even coming near the nest and are just busy doing their jobs.

For the sake of realism my war galleon no longer has a mortar, it has been moved to the support ships

The fleet changes direction to move toward St Martins...

And here is why realism should apply.

Two armadas appear on the horizon, one to the West and one to the South East. Each Armada is made up of 10 MoWs, 10 SoTLs, 10 Lrg Frigates, 5 Frigates, and 5 Sloops of War. The two armadas are accompanied by an single cutter. The armadas bear no flags of any nation.

The Armadas surround the remnants of the Royal fleet and it's captors leaving no room for escape.

The lead ship sends signals to the Legacy indicating a willingness to talk.

Ellen curses.

Where the bloody hell did they come from?! They must have used voodoo or something to arrive so stealthily.

Ellen quickly signals that her ship will not fight, and that she I willing to talk. Though she whispers to Emily.

Be prepared to take a hostage, though I don't think it necessary, but still be prepared.

Emily nods, while Ellen waits on board her ship for whoever they send to talk to her.
