Capt. Jack Teach wrote:That night, the rest of Jack's fleet and men, all 50,000 them. The ships are 50 in number and have full guns. When they come into the harbor some people fear an invasion, but it is clear that when the moderately armed men come ashore, they are not here to fight, but it sends a clear message: no one's going to arrest these pirates any time soon.
Are you serious? Did you fail math? 50,000 men on 50 ships is 1000 men per ship. For even the largest ships of the time to carry that many men, they would have to gut the interior and pack them in like sardines. Then you need to take into account space for weapons, ammo, food, water, the ability to move around. It's more believable that you can shoot lightning bolts out of your ass than 50,000 men on 50 ships.
When they came ashore, did they leave the ships unmanned, or is that 50,000 on top of crews and full armaments?

actually, no. One if my ships is a first rate ship of the line, which can carry around 600 to 800 crew, plus 49 flag galleons which can carry in real world numbers around 140 crew, meaning my numbers are correct. So it actually would have been more men than I originally said, not less. some ships are bigger than others, mate. Take this as a lesson to think before you speak!
