king of the hill feature

Postby R0nnie » Thu Apr 18, 2013 5:32 pm

i just discussed this idea with ZJ in chat, i need you guys to judge if it's good or bad.the way i see it ,at times there is little to do in PG so i humbly request the devs to think about a king of the hill port system.
1.This will need a new port or an existing port modified a bit (there'll be no governor an his daughter)
2.The king of the hill stuff will be a nation effort...in short it'll be nation controlled...wait that's like all other ports right?
3.port control will not be determined ny influence...cuz then wales(rather x) will own the port like forever.rather it'll be determined by the no. of fleets defending the port...now here's the interesting part (point 4):
4.fleets will be stacked in a certain order.suppose my fleet reaches the port at 6:00 and is the first fleet to reach there...it'll remain at tier 1,if there are already ,say,3 fleets, then mine will be at tier 4
5.now imagine a scenario where wales is controlling the port,X will send fleets to defend it,so will abp phoenixs and a lot others i know, and say there are 10 defending fleets.now all the fleets may not...rather need not be of lvl 10 sols, say wales have 9 fleets of howkers with 1 ship per fleet and then a full fleet of lvl 10 sols. The tricky part is you'll(the attacking nation) not know at which tier that lethal fleet is.
6. FOR DEFENDERS : first and foremost there will be a cap of 15 participating players to be chosen by the king or the next highest titled player(must be a high noble class) .there will be an option to choose whether the fleet will be sent to trade or to defend.mind it if it's to defend ,then you can send only 1 fleet at a time.sending your fleet to defend the port would cost 5 turns.once it reaches the port,it'll dock there and remain at the arranged tier till and attacking fleet defeats it ,upon which it'll return to the port from where it was sent.now during it's stay there, its upkeep will be halved. For all the members of the nation(including the 15) the port will sell its resources at a price or -1 gold per crate and buy at +1(this is only for the 15 players..i mean the +1 gold buy thing) as long as the port is defended.mind it all the players of any nations can trade in that port minus the bonuses

FOR ATTACKERS : for attack the cap will be 25 players decided by the king (if unavailable then by the next ranked player...i.e. the governor if not that then the next class.p.s. must be a high noble class).players will be able to send 1 fleet at a time and each time it'll cost 3 turns once they are able to defeat all the enemy tiers they can then stack their own tiers of fleets and they become the defenders(note:the player fleet that'll defeat the last enemy tier i.e. tier 1 will become the tier 1 of the now-defending nation).

7. yeah barnacle(blue blistering) i forgot to mention that all fame and gold loss/gain whatsoever would be half the normal percent
and most important of all this is an open idea...that means you can comment and improve it...so if you feel there's something wrong with barnacle, then just be kind enough to post the solutions....

This is a very sound idea, which will naturally be ignored entirely.

Sound? Sound like 25 against 15. Sound like somebody want unfair advantage. Sound like port change hands often. Sound like port should make gold to sell so +/- 1 not make lot of difference. Sound like defender must need buy full fleet gold before can stack and defend. Sound like winner should take gold from loser.

Sound like me idiot? Not only one!

Me Tarzan You Jane! Me no like King of Hill feature for reasons that can't be understood due to poor syntax and grammar structure.

I don't know, Zombie. Seems to me that his point is there but that he failed to quote you before making you the butt of his joke. I might even say this little side-game was a good idea with some compromises if I cared anymore.
On another note, the +/- will make just as much difference no matter what the commodity is so "Sound like me idiot?" is up in the air right now but not completely off the table.
Yesterday I gave my all. Today I'll give more. Tomorrow, I'll take back what you took for granted.

First, I don't think a player should be able to be King of a nation without a certain number of Nobles in that nation as well. The Highest rank could be Governor if that number is lacking

As for the King, I think it would be cool if the game took into account many things to determine who it was. For one, players should be able to lend support to other Govenors or Dukes which increases their chance of becoming king. Also Fame should be taken into account. There could be a formula that uses your fame, influence, and following to determine the King. Each part could count as a third of the total count, so that for example a player with a large following and a lot of Fame could beat a player with any amount of influence

My two cents, King of the Hill sounded too simple for politics
