I believe I have around 500 floppy disks around the house they are great collectibles... and 90% todays kids will never understand what they are or how they are used...

Which is good. In generations to come, just imagine only one person knows what a floppy disk is and how it works; You can hide all kind of content on it and nobody will be able to get inside it.

Floppy disks commonly break randomly if used a decent amount

I heard this story of a person who wanted to show a disk to his grandchild. Kid's response: "Cool, you've made a 3D print of the save icon!"

It's a sad day people in my class are saying I don't know how to use a floppy disk but I use them so much and they don't even know what they look like

i recently got a few thumb-drives as a present.
"you work a lot with the computer so these will come handy"

that was the moment i realized that those thumbdrives had become obsolete as well.
i am afraid that in five year time the cloud will be obsolete :)

honestly that's the main reason I decided against getting into any technical career. a computer teacher I had in highschool summed It up pretty well.
"you go to tech school for 4 years, and by your 4th year in it everything you used in your 1st is outdated." its almost scary how fast technology grows and changes. tis why I like math. pretty much never changes.
