Hey friends, looser is back, I have a thought in my mind after looking at some of the posts between some respected and big players of the game.

One of them mentioned that USA dumped 2 billion gold coins in all the ports and some more things about a Banker which is biggest banker in the game. This sentence is the base of my thought.

1 - Is U.S.F.R. really using its clients' gold coins to dominate the world?

2 - Is U.S.F.R. is safe and can we trust U.S.F.R. ?

3 - If Spain retaliates or if clients withdrew their gold coins, can U.S.F.R. file bankruptcy?

4 - Was giving those interest on gold coins, monetary gifts, and credits to the clients all part of the plan to accumulate higher level of funds from clients and dominate the world.

5 - What happens if we boycott U.S.F.R. for the time being till the mess is over. Will U.S.A. be capable of holding its ports?

Thanks Waiting for reply,
Looser

Looser, these are all very pertinent questions of which I have no answer.

I do know client funds are available to the bank owner and the owner can use them as they see fit.
The position of banker is a position of trust so you better know your banker well enough that you trust them not to spend your gold.

An expansionist banker fits in with coffee drinking surgeons and mechanics who have shares in parts supply houses.
You have to personally weigh out the risks and trust level.

Aye : banks are fine and dandy ; a lot cheaper in turns that burying your gold and without the risk of losing it to a treasure hunter : but that doesnt mean they are risk-free : a banker can spend your coin as they would spend their own, once its all gone, you cnat get it from them until they refill their bank : they can freeze your account and just keep it : they can close their bank and stop you taking it out :
I found banking did restrict my activity in the game : I felt I couldnt act against some players for I held their funds, or they had outstanding loans, some of which defaulted due to events causing tension between our relevant guilds : So, my view, to be a totally trustworthy and respected banker aint easy, for you have to essentially hold yourself apart from the game, and the factions and conflicts within it. This I could not do so I closed mine, (its open again but I dont tout for business) and use it essentially for my own banking needs.
Stan is right, choosing your banker is not simple, and you need to assess the risk factors involved first.

Thanks friends for the reply. I am glad at least somebody has a voice.

But the banker has'nt spoken? I would appreciate a reply from him.

Most of us usually see which bank has the biggest vault so that we can store biggest amount there and less turns are consumed in this process. So all of us can be in trouble if think like this regardless of banker.

looser, I cannot speak on behalf of Rothchild, and I won't even try -

As for banking, I see that Danik is spot on - bankers have to play a different role in the game; there are several ways to play it. There are 38 open banks in Avonmora, and each banker is going to have different premise for their banking. Some use it for storage, some use it to loan funds to allies, others as a way to make a little interest if they can, etc.

Morgan & Bartholomew has a different business plan than USFR, the Bank of Da Vinci, or the Avonmora Capital Bank. Tokellau has a different purpose for their banks than the US, Iran(this week) or Midway. All four banking systems are some of the largest banks in Avonmora with a different business model in mind.

I founded Tokelau to be a neutral banking nation with no ports necessary. Ports were converted when new citizens joined, and Tokelau has enjoyed the benefits of a port. We now work to maintain and build the two remaining ports as it is good for the citizenry and industry in general, therefore, they shall be defended. I have stated in our national forums, and I will state here, we have no need or intention to take another port - our industry is banking.

As for Morgan & Bartholomew, she be a simple no frills bank - store coin, send coin, get a loan or buy and sell credits. Doesn't matter if you are a raider, trader, pirate or king. You are free to use as you see fit. What you see is what you get.

While I apologize for the shameless self-promotion, I put it forth to show what the premise of Morgan & Bartholomew is about - you can now see if my actions and affiliations match the premise. You can do the same on each bank - see if what they say matches what they do.

Danik's spot on about trust - bottom line, you either trust 'em or you don't. Each banker is weighed and measured based upon their actions, affiliations and history. Each and every individual is going to weight and measure the bank of their choice differently as well, to fit their needs and objectives.

As a famous captain once said: (or something close to it) Each must do what is right in his own mind.

Without some restrictions on banks owning a bank is nothing more than a license for one player who owns a bank to trade with another player who also owns a bank. Seems harsh for newer players also that with what little can be made as a newer player that a banker can without notice load his boat with gold and take off with the meager assets. Newer players have not yet had time to build close personal relationships with a banker and have to place a lot of trust in someone you know nothing about. A uncontrolled banking industry could be devastating to the new player and could permanently leave them on a beach very quickly. I thought the discussions we had when we talked about banks design were to help a new player with loans and such, not leaving them open to wipe them out.

It's true that we can take all money but any player who built bank and put it in use has reputation which want to keep. I own small bank but any player who deposits in my bank will always have acsses to their money and that is true for 98% bankers if not for 100%
