[Approved] Tax Amnesty

The nation, using the treasury, pays off the debts of select or all its citizens when enacted. If it remains enacted, then debts will continue to be paid off as soon as they occur.

Tax debts only. If you did it for loans also then the system could easily be taken advantage of by thoughtful people.

I can think of a way it could be used to abuse tax debts as well.. but as I like it, I shall not complain :)

Make no or little sense to me. I can see how a nation might want to avoid their people becoming pirates, but paying off tax debts with tax money makes no sense.

Yes also, taxes may have been very high from a previous king and the new king wants to remove those debts. Also, debts cripple a person's economic growth and a nation needs to grow. Bankruptcy is an option for a nation to do that. Also, nations collect a majority of their wealth from port ownership, not your taxes.

I have found a treasury distribution to the appropriate party works - if they don't use it for paying debt, it's on their hands....

However, tax amnesty would be a nice feature.

Approved (Tax Amnesty new name)

Although, it is only a preliminary approval.

We need to consider further options, such as making this tax amnesty work with Banks (Nations sell such debts, of active players, to banks). Removal should only be possible for long term inactives. We could even create an auction listing where Banks will bid in such debts.

If the player has already defaulted to their nation, by what means can the bank who has bought the debt recover it?
