trading is not a goal for beginners. plunder and national missions are the goal. no one can start trading first with out funding from a guild.

real goals. how to spend time advice. plunder and rank advancement. trade later.

i reached a rank Navigator.. but when i was plundering every time i saw someone with danger that ii could win i got back voodoo.. so you can't plunder.. nation missions is a thought but you need trading to get money and grow strong fast! so as a conclusion if you want new members to stay try help them!

Help I never give. Health yes. I'm about the same position. the position of hostile guilds, my original character was run down in a gallon by a SotL. I fire shipped that govner. Yes lay down a stick. It has been a year for trade development. I still have no money.

@@@seamonsters are like little children they hide under the table and eat the food off the floor. They all fought eventual death. like us pirates.

My not so humble and frequently wrong opinion concerning new player retention is this.
Yes they need turns, yes they need gold, yes they need ships, but what they need more than anything else is friends.
Believe it or not, this is a very social game.

I am not talking about being in a guild. Being in a guild is good, but that alone doesn't mean they get a friend.
I have seen new players come into a guild and be told "read the guides" then practically be ignored.
The biggest change to the game at the moment that could increase new player retention is
the personal touch we all could give them.

Sometimes it is very frustrating seeing new players making the same mistakes you made at the beginning,
but you have to understand they will make mistakes and they need people to help them understand what they did wrong.

The biggest key I have found is remember they are not you and they will not play like you.
You can advise them as to which ships to build, but ultimately, maybe they like the other ship
and will have more fun sailing around in a Dinghy than they would a Galleon or a Merchantman.
I know one player that chose the Galleons to be their trade ship because they liked the way it looked.
They are still playing and having fun.

Be personal with new players, like them, and help them have FUN!
The rest will come later.
And what ever you do, get a pair of ugly shorts!

+1 Kart! that's what is missing from this game.. communication and the feeling that you have someone close to you.. understanding you.. protecting you from mistakes..

The whole world would be better just with that..

i pray for peace and food for Africa xD
