Deportation Discussion

It looks like I will be the first test of deportation . lets see in 16 hours if I am still in Spain or a pirate ?

I thought it was for inactive players. well I am being deported for being too active by the grand inquisitor.

1.3.77: Fixed issue in Deportation requirements algorithm.

We discovered it ourselves without being aware of your issue. Please in the future, report ASAP any bugs you discover as we rely in players feedback in fixing bugs. New features are always prone to bugs.

Regarding the voting itself, we canceled it as it was based on malformed criteria (which the repair fixed).

No, get your facts straight before you play to the gallery : I proposed a vote to deport you : it would have been the citizens of Spain voting for or against who would have decided to deport you, or not : all moot as it appears the admins have veto-ed the whole shebang anyway : but hey, you got to vote on it, we just got you declaring war on another nation all by your own-some... still, why would we need to vote when you are so obviously right... lost 3 wars and a nation, got to be right some time, eh?

Whilst I accept the admins felt this vote was the result of a bug and have cancelled it, it was not apparent when it was opened that it was a bug ; the dialogue declared the player was eligible for such a vote : I assumed the formula for calculating such was taking into account the short tenure of the citizen, along with their fame, influence, hat size, etc. Perhaps it did exactly that, but such was not intended in its design, so, meh.. it is what it is.

However, I do think nations should have a tool which acts in that way for their own security and to remove unwanted nuisances such as the more obvious multi-accounters, for example. For now, it seems, anyone can join, then disregard all policy, procedure, agreements, treaties, etc and do pretty much as they please without regard for anyone else, and tough luck for their reluctant hosts. Guilds can boot, nations can't : if we want the game to develop the role of nations, then that needs consideration.

There is no such thing for us. We do check EVERY account reported. We do CHECK on our own almost daily as well. We do take care that whenever a multi-accounter is detected, a fair solution is prevented if possible although ban of all accounts is possible and has happened. We have very strict rules with this. I have seen this same quote reproduced elsewhere. This is very unfair to the administration work as we work hard to prevent anyone from cheating. There have been some increased cases lately but they all have been resolved.

If you do suspect someone, please report. Posting here such quotes do not resolve the issue, do not help you, do not help the game. In contrary, it creates false impression for everyone and above all for the newcomers.

Keep such discussion out of the forums. Keep it in private with administration only.

For the record, SEC was not the first to be put up for deportation...

Anyways, I think Danik/Torquemada has a good point. Guilds have some powers and possibilities in who can join and who cannot that nations do not have. The deportation feature was a nice way to balance spies in a way that real nations do. While in real life, spies could be deported, exiled, or hanged (especially back in the time period from which this game is played), deportation of any player allowed for that feature. I do not know what the "deportation algorithm" used contains, though I think that it would be good to allow any player to be deported (even king) if the nation votes that way. I think that the king should still have the power of veto unless it is a 2:1 margin, even if it is his/her own deportation at stake.

So at the risk of my ignorance of the deportation algorithm rendering this point moot, I propose that deportation can be used on any player in the nation, as that is more realistic and adds more to the game than (I believe with my current information) the current deportation is. This may be the case (though it doesn't sound like it), and if so, then sorry for wasting the last 1-2 minutes in reading this.
