I discussed this with Argo via email.......

Why not let the thread author moderate their own thread.

Dman and Clock could then start a thread called "I hate you" in UoH and go at it.

I could start a thread called "I disagree" and remove all comments I actually agree with...... my thread.... my rules.

.... partly a joke, but partly serious. If the thread author finds an issue with something posted in their own thread then they should have the ability to edit and remove posts.

Forum bans should only be a moderator authority, but edits should be authors ability.

THat's a permissions nightmare.

:D :D :D Problem solved... Seriously. Moderating your own topic is a great idea and having and having mod to turn to if necessary for help or warnings etc. Call on the Mod when you think you need help maybe. Until then, your thread is your own show...No permissions required Dez

simple "if /then" command.

Simply add another category to authorities for authors.

That assumes that the forum permissions can be set that way without the need of custom add-ons.

If not, then you talking about custom addons to the forums.

I'd rather have actual game development over custom forum add-ons.

the only real issue i see with it is multiple threads on one subject due to the topic being one liked by others but due to god control everyone not having the ability to post in it if they want to
I normally wouldn't look in a suzy stan or danik post unless it named me but lets say they did and while I'm the topic I cant post.... you can bet imma start my own version or 3 of the same thing

additionally it doesn't remove the bad behavior it just encourages it

at least that is my opinion
damages or butthurt received in the posting of these words is solely yours and yours alone
if counseling is needed therapist ahben buthert or cryin ferdays is available at the tp kleenex & creme clinic
:PP
I am a silly head and a meanie.

I do agree that if your name is mentioned or the post is about you, you should be able to reply. I have no idea how this could be made possible.

One of the biggest issues in my opinion is that folks seem to just not bother reporting at all, and yet complain when nothing is done with some posts they clearly have issues with. Yes, mods should patrol the forums and keep watch, but we are not bots-we are real people with real life issues, jobs, responsibilities, and we can't be expected to vigilantly read and moderate every post that is made. I mean hell, I went to sleep last night with this topic only having 1 page, and now I come back to see it's 17 pages long. I read a few pages, then skimmed a bit more, and decided to post this right quick, and to come back to read it a bit more when I got some more time.

Another big issue is that often times when action is taken by a mod, there is almost always a storm of complaints or mockery. Hell, I've seen folks complain and act up over getting verbal warnings-which is basically just me telling someone "don't do that or cut it out". Then when they get an official warning or ban for ignoring it, complain even more about mod abuse.

I'll admit, I could do a better job going over the forums, and enforce rules more vigilantly. I tend to try to be lenient with punishments. On that note however, the community could do a far better job reporting what they have issues with, talking to me in a civil discussion if they have an issue, and working with me and other mods to solve their issues. Mods are not gods-we can't read minds, we can't solve issues that we don't even know about, and we can't magically sense whenever a rule is broken. We also can make bad calls and judgements. Yet we can't fix errors, or improve if no one reports problems, or contacts us with their issues.
