Achievements Round-Up:

Players changing flags too many to mention individually although the mighty Quin is doing the rounds...criss crossing the seas of Avonmora, dodging krakens and leviathans, the sea lanes were busier than a hive full of bees...

The mass exodus from Spain saw the mighty Quin sail to not-so-distant-shores of Madagasgar. Our reporters missed the boat completely on this story and we are left to try and figure things out. Perhaps Quin was helping with the honorable task of the safe relocation of Lodswe's and Jims' personal fortunes or maybe just transporting some blankets and soup as suggested by El Draque. Maybe on arrival it just wasnt the same as OG Spain and the search for home continues...

Day 3173: Late news in - Quin (#72075) has been named as a Marquess of Tokelau
Now a noble in the retirement village great nation of Tokelau and along with Wally and quite some others, we hope its a good fit for you all. ( Look at the list of impressive and respected names there~ I mean really - they could collectively turn Avonmora on its head.. and back again as many times as they choose!!) What a nation!
Young players such as Clyde, Talon and Meyd are stepping well into the swing of things around here. Having to learn their voodoo moves quickly will ensure they go on to greater things earlier than expected and getting innocently involved at a level unexpected for relatively new players, you showed great poise and promise. You go lads!
Still no news of Captain da Vinci - Last sightings of him reported from deep in the quiet and lonely back streets of Dominica .. With madshan returning to Maddygasgar it would seem CDV has found a place to rest and hide from all those screaming fans that await his every success. The fans stay loyal. Time spirals will not make them forget.

Day 3157: Cutpurse (#66280) has scored a new achievement: Bug Hunter ! Where would Avonmora be without our beloved bug hunters!! Congratulations matey!! Keep squashing them little critters for PG!
(Look out, Cutpurse - word has it Leo is desperate for one of these awards.)
Just a wee reminder that if you do find a bug, screenshot and report it. Tell DezNutz.

Day 3157: Jim Hawkins (#14972) has been named as a Marquess of Tokelau ~ the old fella still gots it!
Ranking up in Tok in a day ... (A number of sudden and unexpected attacks on this editors fleets out of the blue had her reaching for her voodoo chest instinctively).
Said Editor didnt realise at first Jim was ranking. But when the whoops continued far more than what is usually regarded as acceptable, in a show of defiance she quickly cast coj. ( Apologies for that. - hitting or stopping someone while ranking isnt good form at all..imo -.[well depends-always exceptions to everything]. ) but as you can see, it was no bother to Jim~ it made not a skerrick of difference and the old master moved easily and quickly along to take his rightful place on the council in his new homeland well before the sun came up.

Day 3155: xPROx (#71327) has scored a new Milestone: 10,000 Battles Won ~ Is there anything in this game this pirate player cannot do ?

Day 3155: Scraps (#85938) has started a Plantation at the port of Pania!

Day 3150: Haron (#57533) has started a Plantation at the port of New Land!

Day 3150: Haron (#57533) has started a Plantation at the port of Chalkos!

First he took down the black flag, changed his pirate garb for some ill-fitting red shorts and now this!! I mean, honestly.. what is the world coming to? Stuff and nonsense. Once a pirate always a pirate I say, no matter what colour pants you wear!!

Day 3148: EdwardTeach (#63904) has scored a new Milestone: 20,000 Total Battles ~ Another player who can make your day miserable if he chooses. Runs some tempting fancy ships himself he does - but make sure you do your homework if you intend to try and steal them. Oh.. and study up on the use of fire-ships and Vengies of the WD. Might come in handy one day!

Day 3148: Redbard (#42897) has started a Plantation at the port of Chalkos! MIAB scouted for info on what RB was actually planting at this new plantation but when questioned there was only silence. We are left to assume...MIAB recalls one time the quiet and unassuming RB made an appearance on the cold and windy streets of Slack. With a simple 'hello' he managed to surprise and stun the citz there at the time as any word from him is so rare. Like the true phantom he is beyond that smooth sounding 'hello', there has only been silence since once again.

Day 3146: dmanwuzhere (#66793) has scored a new Milestone: 30,000 Battles Won ~ For all the words that are said, this player has his money where be his mouth! Dman can definately bring the Thunder !

Day 3132: Admiral Malevance (#90446) has been named as a Admiral of United Kingdom 'Admiral Admiral" as thoughtfully noted for all by Dez.

Day 3129: DezNutz (#54689) has scored a new Milestone: 5,000 Total Battles ~ Congrats Dez...

DID YOU KNOW:

Slavery Boomed When The Golden Age Of Piracy Ended?

1.Almost Every Pirate Ship Had Black Crewmen
The records we have of pirate crews show that almost every ship had at least a few black pirates in the crew. In most cases, black pirates made up more than just a couple of scattered crew members. They were a big presence on pirate ships. In fact, an estimated 25 to 30 percent of pirates were black.

2. Pirates Freed Slaves-Pirates Targeted Slave Ships
When a pirate crew captured a slave ship, they got a whole new crew. Often, they’d go into the lower decks, set the slaves free, and encourage them to join. This didn’t always happen. Some would just make the Africans slaves of their own, and some would do even worse. Black Bart, for example, once burned 80 slaves alive inside of a ship.

3. The First Buccaneers Were Escaped Slaves
When we think of pirates in the Caribbean, white faces usually come to mind. We picture people like Blackbeard or Samuel Bellamy—Europeans buccaneers who raided other white men. The first buccaneers in recorded history, though, had dark skin.

4.Pirates Gave Voting Right To Africans Centuries Before Civil Rights
Pirate captains weren’t dictators. The only time they had absolute command over their crew was during a raid. The rest of the time, the ship was run democratically, with every person on the ship free to have a voice in how it was run.
Captains were elected, and every member of the crew was given a vote.
They would also draw up articles with strict rules on how to live together and how to punish offenders. This means that in the 17th century, there were free and equal African-Americans voting for their leaders—but only on pirate ships.

5. Blackbeard’s Lieutenant Was An African Chieftain
Some black pirates rose up to high ranks and led crews of white men. One of them is legendary today: Black Caesar, the infamous pirate who ended up in Blackbeard’s crew.
Black Caesar was a chieftain in Africa until he was tricked and lured onto a slave ship. By chance, the slave ship was struck by a hurricane, and Black Caesar and white a crewman were the only ones to escape alive.
Stranded at sea, the two men decided to lure in passing ships, rob them, and take them over. Soon, Black Caesar was leading his own pirate crew.
In time, he joined Blackbeard, but he kept a high rank. He was a lieutenant, one of the most important people on the ship. He was put in command of several white pirates, and Blackbeard trusted him with his life. ( to be continued ahead ).
