Recently, I have seen a lot of people comment on Witch Doctors having nothing to loose - Now maybe this is true, maybe its not. However in this thread you will have a poll to answer - Hopefully this will give me the information I need; if Avonmora is misinformed or if Witch Doctors/Pirates are have nothing to lose.

You will get 2 Options per user, so if you feel 50/50 on two of the fields - You can select them both.

I'd suggest its the wrong way to approach the problem : dont ask what do they have to lose and think because its little they cant be harmed : ask what can you prevent them gaining : a pirate lives to plunder : its not just their income, its their very reason for playing : a pirate unable to plunder isnt really a pirate at all, just a guy with a couple of ships parked up doing nothing.

So, when asking yourself 'What can I do to stop them messing with my game-play?'.. ask yourself, 'What can I do to mess with their game-play?' Then go study the voodoo cards and learn what each does ; the answers are all there. You wont need to throw tens of cards, just a few of the right ones.

I fight back on pirates because I can at least make them lose more than they gain, which would make them back off a bit, currently not really having much problems with Witch Doctor because I was never really attacked by them but just suddenly get random voodoo cast from them and them getting angry for fighting back and cast like 1 Blacklist or something.

You are grouping pirates and witch doctors together. There is a spectacular difference.

The reality of this is that CJ says that WDs are a problem. Yes, you can cause harm to them, but in essence a WD can recover quite easily. They don't have to rebuild fleets, nor trade routes. They sit there with no ships and just launch voodoo attacks. While you can hit them back causing loss, the amount of loss done is not comparable to the loss inflicted. A player fighting a WD will always be on the losing side. Even if the WD fights a long voodoo battle and runs out of voodoo, the costs of the damage inflicted on the target(s) plus the any retaliatory acts will outweigh a WDs costs. The target of a WD will always lose.

A player fighting a pirate can inflict comparable loss.

Same as a target of a pirate, then...

No not the same. A pirate has ships. Ships can be hit and plundered. Pirates can suffer serious losses.

Because all that matters is ships...

Chances are if you go against a proper pirate; you will lose with devastating losses.

I agree with Avery.

Voodoo is expensive... Why not just ride out the storm like most do. They will get bored or run out of voodoo/cash soon enough.

Yes it can be frustrating in the short term, but people who play like this peter out soon enough.

That is my experience at least with situations like this.
