The Issue with Port Takeovers

This is completely my opinion.

Recently there has been many port takeovers that last a mere day or so then die out quickly. Never have I witnessed a successful hostile port takeover. They ALWAYS fail.

My belief is because simply many of these takeovers have no backup to when the gold runs dry. Its usually a small group (sometimes 1 guy) who buy a huge amount of influence in a port then immediately lose it the next day. When will it become apparent you can't take a port without teamwork of some sort? Nations and guilds are all peaceful so they don't take eachother's ports. The only guilds that aren't peaceful don't even want ports. So are these really port takeovers or just attempts to make a minor disturbance to nations? I think the latter.

I have grown tired of these attempts. When will someone with a team actually step up and take over a port for themselves through hostile methods instead of backing down when enough propaganda's has hit their easily exposed influence? I cannot be the only one thinking this isn't getting old. Its a continuous and never ending cycle.

Just because someone can buy in 200mil influence in a port does not mean they will keep it at ALL. It means they have most likely wasted gold and voodoo.

Also, IoM didn't purchase Psaral. Nor did they Tzogos.

You were there for that. Right?

A long time ago.

More or less the point is that its just some lonewolf or small team running the show. IoM had multiple others involved.

Another successful take over was Charles "F-ing" Vane with Akro.

He nuked the sh!t out of the port and would still have it today, if he didn't sell it to IoM to help squash a fight between IoM and Spain.

That was actually suprising.

It was done while Valar was doing his runs. And Valar as well took 2 ports I think then later lost them.

But I think Bermuda had too much on their hands. So they let him keep it. I remember Vane telling me he couldn't cast on them since he was trying to keep good relations after him taking Akro.

Aye, Valar might still have NEO, if some outsider didn't step up and help Bermuda. Don't know who that guy was. ;)

One "Good deed' is hardly enough to redeem a ton of bad ones.
