Nice to see more port contention lately and forcing nations to spend some coin in maintaining their holdings. Some may even consider reducing size as more and more nations become eager and it becomes more and more difficult to maintain so many ports.

I thought something like this would happen.
Spain is 'cheap' when it comes to their influence in ports. (No offense meant, but if you look at Vaasburg you can clearly see. In a 'Main' port they only have 13,000,000.)
They should follow Bermuda's plan (30 Million spread through 10 different people).

Lets keep the hypocrisy levels down below the gagging zone, please.
We all enjoy seeing another nation gets its port stolen, and talk wisely of 'opening up the map', and giving new nations a chance. Talk which oft turns out to be total bollox when its your port gets taken : anyone recall what happened to Ireland when it took Psaral? We could link to that thread, and the justifications given by some here for smashing that ambition down. But hey, thats the usual BS on the subject so why bother, we've read it before and will read it again.
We take ports because we can : we keep them if we can : we lose them if we can't.
Everything else is smoke and mirrors and nice words to make us feel good about ourselves.

If you did link to that post, which you should, you would find posts like this one:
I love what Mack did, I have done it myself a few times (ask Spain). I love what Valar has done, a few times. Vane as well. Mostly I love what Bigtea, Will, Meliva, chin, myself did about 6-7 months ago. We stepped up, came together and took a port. Then took two. Then worked a deal for the 3rd.
This is why I truely like and respect what Mugi is doing now with Grenada. He has rallied some players together and they are working hard to be a port controlling nation. The United Kingdom have recruited players and have their eyes on a prize.
What needs to happen more in this game is collaboration. Not resitict nation functionality. What Eygpt and IoM did was collaborate on creating something new. And this was awesome!
More players need to have the drive and foresight to come together and collaborate on items like these. If they did the world of Avonmora would be a more exciting place.
You will see others like One Eye say similar things and give props to Mack for trying. Timing was wrong as St Kitts was deciding what ports to give away. But my above statement stands. We need more players with foresight to come together and collaborate to make things like this stick. Unless I don't see something, Bonaire won't hold the port and we all know that.
Again kudos for stepping up and making waves Grimm

There is precious little new in the majority of port changes : usually its caused by players who already had major influence moving it elsewhere : St Kitts is a perfect example of such : a bunch of folk who already owned ports under one flag moved to a new flag and viola!
But when its one or two new players, well, they get themselves hammered back out again by those same happy band of existing port-holders : Karkar? Mack? Roger of Cuba? Nope, they were not new enough, it would seem. But switch your flag to a new nation, take a port with you and now you are cutting edge newness fully deserving of your prize!
Like I said, its smoke and mirrors and fine words to make yourself feel good : just be honest, you steal a port because you can : thats where the feel-good happens. All else is primarily BS.
