Posted: Wed May 09, 2012 1:02 pmThis topic is intended as a venue for us to negotiate terms for conflict resolution so that others can read and learn from our cooperative efforts. I will open with the foundation that we set forth following our very costly battle.
Let me begin by stating that it was Hellfire of PK that initiated peace talks and that those of us opposing PK were glad to work something out.
The first thing that we agreed upon is that we need a better way to resolve disagreements that doesn't include war.
Then we agreed to let bygones be bygones.
So we came to the conclusion that some involvement by impartial third-parties would be helpful since realistically we don't want to have our group be on the losing end of a disagreement and neither do you. Therefore someone Who is impartial should represent our cases. For this reason you expressed the desire to enlist ****** as your mediator while we chose *****.
We also, came to the conclusion that an ambassador/delegate that we believe can be fair should be chosen by the opposition's Leader so we chose ***** of PK and you, Hellfire of PK, chose ***** from our group.
Now with this group in place to negotiate the terms required to resolve a suspected violation of a player's guild's Rules of Engagement (ROE), the parties having the disagreement (IE. Bullying , unprovoked voodoo, more than one attack per guild member on a given player in a 24 hour period) shall fore-go any harmful activities until the negotiating team comes to a conclusion. It is assumed that four representatives whose goal it is to be fair, will come all to the same conclusion although three in agreement will be enough to settle the matter
In the event that four fair-intentioned negotiators can't come up with three matching conclusions a fifth will be chosen to break the tie.
Here I go against what I originally suggested so that we don't develop a new tension while trying to fix an existing one.
Instead of the Leaders of each side trying to come up with an impartial fifth mediator when needed, that fifth should be agreed upon by the two impartial mediators chosen by the two leaders. In this way no player, having a guild affiliation with the accused or the accuser, will take part in choosing the final mediator. The matter will then be analyzed by final mediator, who will collect answers to any questions that he believes may not have been addressed and which will help to find the correct answer. After that, the answer of the final mediator will be the final decision for that matter.

] Once a pirate feels he/she has been offended/attacked unfairly , the natural recourse is aggression with an attack back or in some cases the implementation of voodoo. Since we cannot see who has attacked our guild or see who our guild has attacked , what does it behoove an outraged pirate to talk it out. If RoE were respected and known to all it would help. But my attempts to start understanding regarding this matter have been met with almost nothing but closed minds. Thank you for your suggestions and ideas.
