The Rehabilitation of Sir Roberts

SSTG has taken on many new players to train and over all we are very proud of the players who have trained with us. We have even been asked by other guilds to train members of their guild for them. This would include a member leaving one guild to join us and learn, then when ready, leave us to go back and join their original guild.
As a rule we teach our players to play with restraint and respect for others. There have been times when SSTG has taken off the gloves, but our principle effort is to teach new players how to build and succeed in the game.
When ever we bring a player who is not new into our guild, we use great caution. Either the player must demonstrate the ability to help others or must be a player who needs our help in learning how to play in a respectful manner. If it is the latter, we spend serious time getting to know the players motivations for a change. We do not take experienced players in lightly.
Loki and I have known Sir Roberts since he first started playing PG. He has often been an irritant to a lot of players. He has had problems trying to figure out how to fit in almost everywhere he has been. He has made many enemies in the game through his reckless use of voodoo. He has annoyed many people with the number of post he has made in the forum, often seeming to only be posting to get his name in front of people. Over all....he has not made many friends in this game.
However, he has shown a desire to help others. His desire to help others could be motivated by more than one desire. It could be a desire to truly help others, help the game, or it could be to simply make himself seem more important than he is. I personally believe it is a combination of all three. Most importantly, I do believe he wants to see the game grow.
I have had many talks with Sir Roberts concerning joining SSTG and he has satisfied many of my concerns in taking him in. He has promised us not to use voodoo on others unless we approve of the situation. He has promised not to be abusive in his attacks on others unless it is a guild approved action. He has promised to reduce the amount of his forum post and only post when it is something constructive. He has promised to listen to our guild leadership and allow us to train him in a type of behavior which should win him friends instead of enemies. He has even agreed to give up the flag he has been flying for another. Sir Roberts has promised a lot. He has promised somethings that I know will be very difficult for him to follow through with. I am convinced he will do his best to fulfill these promises.
Most of you who know me, know my reputation and that the respect others have for me is what I value most in this game. I am putting this on the line by taking Sir Roberts in. I believe he wants to change the manner in which he plays and I believe our team of leadership can succeed in rehabilitating him into a respected player. I know this will take time and it will take time for those who have a serious dislike for him to trust him. Knowing Sir Roberts, I know he has grown in the game as a player and as a person. We are going to give him the chance to be the person he would like to be. We ask those in the game who would mean Sir Roberts harm to give us a chance and see what we can do with him.
